    I know Bernie Goodfellow made a GB bass from various scraps of wood as a test bed for things and trying electronics out in etc, it was so good Mika's bass player had it painted and took it on tour on the proviso that Bernie had it back to destroy after so it never got refinished and ruined his reputation in years to come!

    It's never a simple as x is good y is bad is it? The RCF 15"s are excellent, there's no slowness in the 735 or 745 but they are £1000 each, plus you don't a sub so no matter how good or cheap the alto sub is it's an extra cost and storage/haulage. ¿puedes hablar español Tubster, donde en el Sur tú tocas con tu groupo?

    I was offered a 50s P bass for £500 not that long ago, around 2001 maybe, it was very Mojo'd and I passed it off as fake but with hindsight and further knowledge of the seller I think I missed a trick there

    A good full range pa cab should be able to reproduce everything the bass combo can and more, whether the Alto or similarly priced cabs are that good I don't know.

    I bought a fairly expensive one from Thomann, it came with some stitching that had come undone but it fitted my fairly deep bodied bass so I had a few quid off it and kept it, since then the handles have come open. On the plus side it's very well padded and fits my bass well. You really need to check the sizes before buying, not exactly like a P bass or Strat case.

    What we learnt last time was that most of the people that use a stand or are in a band where stands are used are too busy out playing gigs to care, the dancing audiences enjoying themselves do a good job of blocking the view of the stage area from the middle aged rocker that declares the stands terrible because he has played for forty years without one, yeah and that was when the most recent song in your set was written!
