I don't think it really matters as long as the listing states what it is even if it's a total replica to every detail as long as it is a private seller.

If it's got 'Limelight 009' on the back in Sharpie marker but the advert says it's a genuine Fender you can burn the seller at the stake using their Allparts/Warmoth bitsa for kindling

I've done a few mods to mine including £140 worth of Spiros but the best mod was the first one I did, chunk of grey foam that came in the box with it wedged behind the 'after length'.

That's true but they are Bitsas no more, no less. The bits are mass produced bits but they've been mass produced by someone else. I've kept my real fender and gigged it loads where most limelights have been sold on.

Not really, Fender and Squier are legally and financially linked, Limelight afaik have no legal right to use the Fender logo. *waits for discreet to tell me again that limelight have there own logo*, every limelight I've seen including Discreet's had a Fender logo.

Would Limelight have been able to sell their basses for the same price without the copyrighted logo before they took off as the latest fad on here?

Fender have been in massive debt for years.

I've said this before and I still see it the same, an individual selling a one off self made bass with a logo is different to a business building copies including a well established copyrighted logo.
