1.
Hi guys, thanks for the suggestion. The reason I want to keep the size of the car slightly smaller is because of petrol costs and the bigger the car the bigger the charge on the ferry. Cheers,
Could you ask a neighbour or friend with a Corsa or Fiesta sized car for a trial run in theirs then just to see? The only trouble I can see with a size lower is that these new cars (which they will be on hire) is that they are smaller inside than the previous models even if they are larger outside! The fiesta my sister had was smaller inside than my old 1983 MK1 version! Something like the new Kia C'eed might be good and diesel consumption will be good too.
2. In the grand scheme of music what we as a whole (myself included) regard as bass playing and ground breaking music is nothing but a blip in time, how long as electricity been available in every venue, 100 years or less? never mind how long has electric bass been about. We have no idea what will happen next really do we, strange inplanted sounds that stimulate sections of the brain or something? We are seeing a real rise in popularity of double bass (again myself included) and traditional instruments in general, maybe the elec bass will be a thing that was popular for 100 years only, who knows?
3.
Will it be someone from a band , or someone from Youtube (or whatever it will be called in 30 years time) who play covers ? Some of them get hundreds of thousands of views
I'm seeing a sandberg and a maids outfit!
4.
I find an estate easier for loading a bass plus you can slide the cab/amp/why in easily. Focus estate very good although I have a German these days.
But is it worth the extra cost if hiring one? Long term hire contact i agree but our local hertz etc would not have one to hand like a golf focus Astra etc hatch so i presume you would pay more?
5. New Golf and Focus are about the same length as each other and the MK2 Focus looking on the net so no need for an estate IMO
6. Isnt the latest Golf a bit smaller than the last one too? I can put the scroll on the armrest and the bass does not protrude anywhere near the handbrake or gear stick which is handy, I had a MKV Golf before the Focus (58 reg) and the Focus is alot bigger inside. Just had a look the MK2 Focus is nearly a foot longer than a MK5 Golf.
7. I have a regular focus hatch and it swallows the db and all my other gear so I wouldn't worry too much about the estate bit if they are more expensive to hire?
8. I am almost back on the scene now, stitches out a week on thursday then I will be back on the lessons, keep them coming Geoff
9. I'm seeing more and db players all the time, were there more db players than elec players on the show last night? I don't know who he was either but I too liked it
10. Look at that trans purple! I am so glad for my credit score that this is a four string, that needs buying and playing in public where it belongs
11. At least only 14 people have watched it!
12. Interested to see how theyr gonna ship that with the neck off
13. It does help doesnt it! although I like the live sound too which is good going IMO.
14. Sounds like you have already decided to me then Mart? this is the sort of thing I have in mind, fiddling with the cd player etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9_lOJAzluQ
15.
Tomato, tomato Pete. Don't get me wrong I prefer live but the only way to get work up this way (it seems) is to be in 5 bands and if you're lucky you then get 3/4 gigs per month. Having hit the big 5-0 this year I no longer seem to have the time or the energy to mix that with the day job (plus the empty nest syndrome means less time for all the rehearsals And I need to keep swmbo happy). Moving Back to a duo seems an option into getting into the single act market and I'd rather be playing Saturdays this time of the year if only to get away from the bloody X Factor ;-)
The only venues around here where you would get gigs as a duo playing to backing tracks would be the (now empty) working mans clubs and the odd village pub where no one listens to the bands anyway, would you not rather go down the acoustic/folk/blues or something route than that?
16. Triggers are a totally different onion, please dont lump them in with backing tracks! If someone actually triggers a sample or loop or whatever then the band can still interact and play off each other, no different to a drummer with an electric kit IMO. I hate seeing a band that are tied to the backing track all stiff and stuck to the format, you can tell me I am wrong thats fine I'm not listening
17. Could be worth a try on a HH Ray, I never thought of that Lozz good thinking.
18. I'm going to go the other way I'm afraid Mart. The guy i used to play for wanted to use backing track drums and i refused to do it, if i can't play of the drums and interact with the band it's not for me, I'd rather do an acoustic version than a rock version with backing track drums :-(
19.
The band sound great here- great clip.
Your avatar is giving me gas!
20. I have just been out only to come waltzing back in to this thread to find it up to five pages.....
21. Nah its got more bite like a P bass yet more bottom end fatness like something active IMO, I dont really get on with Jazz basses that well and I always find the pickup cancellation thing an arse which I know is my bad ears really but its still there. I find myself messing around all night thats why I like a single pup bass with my favourite tone usually from a P bass but they sound terrible when I play them (more terrible than normal).
22. three pages composed of terrible puns....
23. Hang on I am lying, mine was an Avon which were much better but still awful
24.
Kay K1. The English language does not contain words with sufficient venom to describe how bad it was.
Oh dear it looks like a few of cut our teeth on these, no wonder I went all out active musicman as its probably as far away from it as possible
