  1. turns out I have bought one
  2. I've no idea what it does but I want one https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7wYAlMMkvH/ https://reverb.com/item/82168901-earthquaker-devices-x-death-by-audio-time-shadows-ii-subharmonic-multi-delay-resonator-cyberpunk-edition
  3. There's a Beatles tribute where the Paul, a naturally right-handed player, has learnt to be ambidextrous and does those gigs playing lefty. I'm not sure all the others are trying hard enough tbh
  4. Great to see the Forty Six & 2 encore last night. An amazing gig - sounded great, looked brilliant and loved the no photos rule. More like this please!
  5. Just about to kick off at the O2. Looking forward to it
  6. Squint at the right points in this video and you can see Mike Rutherford with his Shergold double-neck (not mine) in this selections from Genesis live in 1977
  7. Bit like waiting for a bus: Air tomorrow St Vincent Saturday Tool Monday
  8. Dr Tone Knob PhD at your service Thesis: can artificial intelligence be used for musical composition Summary: yes but it's terrible (this was the mid-90s)
  9. Some tribute acts pride themselves on how closely they mimic the tributee act. A well-known tribute act spent thousands of dollars to track down the same silk that was used to line the lead singer's cloak, used on the opening song. I approached the bassist of said band at an after-show at the Royal Albert Hall. Being left-handed, I asked him if he was learning to play right-handed to look the part (I had been enjoying the free drinks). I, ahem, can't remember his answer unfortunately
  10. I was the Rutherford in several Genesis tribute bands. I'm not 6ft3 with a beard, but had tick in box for Rickenbacker 4001, Shergold double-neck, 12-string acoustic, Moog Taurus bass pedals. I got some of the notes right as well!
  11. I grew up in Fleet. The fact that Stewart Copeland is doing a gig (albeit spoken word) in the room where I used to go to school discos and fail to pull is making my 13-year old head spin.
  12. Genesis had a thing for starting their late 70s and 80s shows with a song from the preceding album, so the 11th Earl is a giveaway that this is an ATTWT show. Here's a typical setlist from that tour: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/genesis/1978/municipal-auditorium-austin-tx-2bdf40e6.html - "Home" would be the encore I Know What I Like, again for who knows what reasons.
  13. kudos for Relayer laptop wallpaper
  14. Thanks Dave. Have we discussed Shergold 4/8-strings before? I think you must be the only other owner of a 4/8 twin apart from me (mine was white, s/n 8401). I p/x'd it for my Takamine TB-10 at Wunjo. I'm sure the tale is somewhere in the basschat vaults.
  15. *cough* 1977 right? (people like me are why I stopped tribute bands btw)
  16. I saw an ad recently looking for someone to join an outfit specialising in Appalachian Murder Ballads. Am I safe in saying I think that's an Americana sub-genre?
  17. This has taken a good 5-10 minutes of determined googling to find - a brief clip of the BBC Shergold 4/12 (at 1m43s) on NMTB season 9 episode 5 starring Terry Hall bless him.
  18. That white double-neck has certainly done the rounds. You'll also find it with The Wedding Present on Top Of The Pops, ditto Dope Smugglaz (who?); an episode of Men Behaving Badly and another of Never Mind The Buzzcocks, and a one-off Robbie Coltrane tv special!
  19. The Cinema Show/In That Quiet Earth. This is some pretty hot stuff even if I say so myself.
