What would You call "Your doping" for bass playing?

And if you're curious about the numbers: Key: (V)=Vegetarian, (GF)=Gluten Free, (GFO)=Gluten Free Option (VGN)=Vegan (1) Cereals Containing Gluten (2) Celery (3) Eggs (4) Fish and Shellfish (5) Milk (6) Mustard (7) Peanuts (8) Other Nuts (9) Sesame Seeds (10) Soya (11) Lupin and Flour (it's from the Lorne Bar in Oban, see https://thelornebaroban.co.uk/menu/ - main course was this "King scallops served with a bed of homemade Pancetta and Stornoway black pudding risotto". It's a wonder I got out alive) -

I'm a long-time fan of the red Tunnocks Caramel Wafer, and latterly the blue. Another delicacy I came across while in Scotland was the Tunnocks Sundae, described thus -

I've only seen them north of the border, and not massively widespread even so. These I picked up from a tourist shop in a village called Luss on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, while en route from Glasgow to Oban. (And also back again for a top-up) -

If only there was some kind of online academy where there were resources for learning stuff like this, they should send out emails relentlessly about the subject

Do You need to wear glasses when playing bass?
toneknob replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
I went to my local jam night on Sunday and said to the house bassist "can I borrow your specs to read the chart? left mine at home" He said "sorry sir this is St Catherine's and we're about to sing All Things Bright And Beautiful" -
I've been curious about switching my J to this kind of setup before, driven mostly by the incessant hum of the flourescent strips in my rehearsal room causing all manner of hum when I was on anything except equal volume on both pickups. So I did a bit of googling around, and at the time I remember coming across a link, probably talkbass (which of course I can't find now) that said essentially "why? that's the characteristic sound of a Jazz bass. don't mess with the recipe". Food for thought. I've just tried and failed to find that thread, but instead found this one - https://www.talkbass.com/threads/benefit-of-vol-vol-vs-a-blend-knob.1018316/ - which offers a bit more of a concrete argument, "I'm sure someone else can fill you in on the "why", but there is a difference in tone between a blend knob set to the middle (both pickups at 50%) and having both pickups at 100%" So is that what would happen with a blend pot? ie is the middle blend position each pickup at 50% or is it both on 100%? btw it might also be worth getting a shielding job done while you're at it.

Not for playing, but for reading charts, ireal pro etc it's probably best that I do -
eg Sparkle In The Rain by Simple Minds ("Speed Your Love to Me" and "Street Hassle") produced by SW

Interestingly, she neither played bass (no surprise there) nor sung backing vocals on the single. Former was Norman Watt-Roy(!), latter by the wives of producer and the label owner (according to wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You'll_Always_Find_Me_in_the_Kitchen_at_Parties)

I prefer the other one! ie, this one. You don't find lines like "This was at some do in Palmers Green" anywhere you know

There have always been old people on stage at Glastonbury. Here's Tony Bennett from 1998 at a very youthful 72 (youngster by all accounts this year!), and in incredible vocal form. Dig the end of Old Devil Moon and the note he holds for a full 12 bars, and the crowd knows they're hearing something special. I was there in 1998 ('nam flashback 100 yard stare). Got there Thursday. Nice evening! Friday = rain all day, all night. Saturday = quagmire. Went home. Got out of the bath in time for Tony B on BBC in the afternoon.

I'm watching their set now. Good stuff! Nice Tina Weymouth vibe from bassist Josefine Jonsson. (not to be confused with the other Josefine Jonsson, who appears to be an ahem specialist ladieswear photographer, I discovered from google today - luckily I'm not in the office)
