I’ve had that too, with an obviously Whingy and vexatious buyer trying to get a freebie. She didn’t like the colour (fair enough) but sent it back damaged and smelling of cigarette smoke

🤢🤮 - stale cigarette smoke smelling items. One of my least favourite things ever.

That is how I felt too but after a bit of calming down, it is a good platform, but people are a pain, trouble is there are people everywhere!

    I agree.

I get a little nervous when I have something decent for sale on there, but for the most part, after 1000's of transactions, I've had very few serious issues. Less than 10 I would say.

My feedback is getting up towards the 2000 mark, but because of the complete apathy of 95% of buyers, my feedback doesn't reflect the amount of transactions I've had. I have 42 items awaiting feedback at the moment and I'll be surprised if more than a couple bother.

    https://pages.ebay.com/ebay-money-back-guarantee/questions.html

    • Seller’s return window: Review the seller’s return policy and return window before you make a purchase.
    • If you did not receive the item, or the item is not as described, you have 30 days from your actual or latest estimated delivery date to open a request, under the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

I just flippin' searched for that and couldn't find it 😂. Well done mate.

Mine was just under 30 days. Far too long in my opinion and even then and it didn't come to anything fortunately.

Looks like @Old Horse Murphy can tell her to do one - officially.

You only get a month and you have to return it. End of.

I don't think that's right mate. I have items in my purchase history that still have the 'return' tab available. My oldest one is from 21/4/20.

I think it may well be 60 days.

  5. I'm not an eBay expert, but it may not be as plain sailing as it would seem from your point of view.

I won't bore you with the details, but I had a similar experience recently (+ve feedback received and then a message of complaint after some time - slightly less than yours).

I spoke to eBay in person and they indicated that if the buyer were to take it further and demand a refund that they would probably get it as 'item not as described'. I was not a happy bunny.

As it turned out, the seller didn't take it further, partly due to my insistence that the defect was caused by them. I managed a small victory with eBay with the agreement that if the buyer did take it further and they refunded them that ebay would then also refund me as a gesture of good will (I was seething during my initial phone call). This was a fairly low cost item though and eBay wanted to keep everyone happy. I can't see them going that far for the price of a sax though.

I really hope it doesn't end badly for you. We all know you're a decent chap and you certainly don't deserve this crap.

That is so cool. Nice. Love it.

Thanks. I've had a few Stingrays and this is a cracker.

I haven't shared this with anyone yet, so you're the first to hear it outside the band, but this is what it sounds like recorded.

They did do a limited edition Sledge bass a few years ago. I can't remember if it was Flea being a Richard or whatever but that was the reason there was no graphite neck Flea signature and instead he went to Modulus

The Sledge is a seriously sexy bass. Slab body and mine is fitted with flats. It usually goes out as a back up to 'Marilyn'. I say back-up; I usually always end up playing it anyway cos it's just so nice.

Well where do I start I gave up with them and contacted DPD direct tracked down a manager who checked lost parcels and then found that a mis labelled package had arrived in Sunderlsnd at a guitar shop instead of private buyer in Glasgow I then got it redirected to proper location so no help from eurosender at all ,who stated we are just a logistics company  the middle man in other words abdicated all responsibility as far as Im concerned they can go and F**** off

Likewise. Glad it was found. That's pretty $h1tty behaviour by Eurosender and has tainted my view of them (finally @Beedster 😉). Fortunately I have no plans to buy or sell at the moment.

If I came into enough money tomorrow I'd be calling Fodera and ordering a monarch 6. For me its a beautifully elegant and compact design, especially with 33" scale and 16.5mm spacing

Well, I hope you win the lottery or something so you can achieve your dream bass 🤞

  10. I may be wrong, but to the best of my knowledge, Jens doesn't have a price list posted on his site. I've had a couple of exchanges with him and Christophe and it seems you can pretty much order any of the Ritter bass models with whatever spec you care to dream up. Some of the Royal Family basses have gemstones and/or precious metals set into them, so you could easily spend above anything that has been mentioned here already.

I also had a conversation with Mica at Alembic a couple of years ago around ordering a Spyder bass. The quote was over $20k; $4k of that was for the silver spider web inlays. I managed to pick one up second hand a couple of months ago for considerably less. Given that it has hardly been out of it's case, I'm glad I held off.

Regarding Fodera. Some people like them, some people don't, but for me the Monarch is almost my perfect bass. I've had a few and they have all been outstanding.

  11. I think there might be enough of Dee Dee’s DNA splattered all over that Precision to conjure up a clone or two.

I’m sure it will make someone very happy, but I’ll pass on that one 🤢.

Safest place for everyone is putting it in a sealed display case in a Hard Rock somewhere. I would suggest the Sharm Al Sheikh one of it still exists. A $h1T hole of epic proportions.

PW is my favourite Rush album so I'm considering it. Not really fanboy enough, though - there's no new/unreleased material here & I don't know if it's worth it just for the live stuff, of which there's already a fair amount from that era around.

I probably wasn't alone in hoping that someone might have unearthed some long-lost demos for Sir Gawain & The Green Knight, the aborted concept piece that much of Permanent Waves originated from!

Yes, they were my thoughts too, however, I have the other three boxes, so I figured I may as well get this one too. They are very well put together and I’m looking forward to listening to the vinyl when I get my new turntable.

I’m not sure if PW waves is my absolute fave, but it’s right up there.

    1. I'm not sure that we should be too impressed that a courier managed four successful deliveries, that should be a given

    2. £30 is about average for UK delivery

    3. Enhanced insurance is an idea not a reality until someone tests that insurance

You keep using them mate, when I get back to using couriers, which given my post-Covid finances is likely to be quite soon I imagine, I certainly won't be

You seem to be operating under the principle that there is a courier out there somewhere that will deliver 100% of the time without issue. I think we both know that’s not true, however frustrating that may be.

I’m not advocating this service, I merely providing information about my experiences thus far so people can make an informed choice. That means reading about the bad as well as the good. I think that’s how it should be.

What? Either something is intonated or its not, you don't get "better intonation". 😆

Except when the vintage bridge in question only has two saddles across four strings, but then I guess if you have one of those, you wouldn’t be putting a high mass bridge on it anyway.

  15. I bought my very first Spector from Mark this week and it arrived this morning.

It was absolute pleasure dealing with him and I thoroughly recommend him as a seller.

Thanks again Mark. Hope to deal with you again soon 🤘

  16. I bought a bass the other day from a seller on BC and I arranged the shipping through Eurosender. It’s the first time I’ve done it this way round. All the seller had to do was box it, which he was more than happy to do.

The bass was collected on schedule yesterday morning and has just been delivered to me 24hrs later. Nil damage.

That’s four successful deliveries in a couple of months. I accept I had a little hiccup with the first one, but once I was aware of the post code thing, it’s been plain sailing.

It occurs to me that although the Basschat discount has been minimal each time, I’ve always received Express Delivery for the Standard Delivery price. £30 delivery with enhanced insurance with a 24 hour turnaround. I’m quite happy with that. I know it’s only as good as the service when something goes wrong, but I’m 4 for 4 now and will use them again.
