  1. Just to be clear, the issue I had was that I did leave a gap in the postcodes on my first booking with Eurosender. Once that was amended, everything seemed to work OK.

As a result, I booked a second shipment (no gaps in post codes) and that was delivered in less than 24 hours.

When I booked the third one, which went today, I made an error in the booking process. I contacted Eurosender via Live Chat and they sorted it immediately. Having spoken to them via telephone twice regarding the first shipment, I highly recommend using Live Chat rather than phoning them.

Aside from the collection issues @AndyTravis, have any shipments gone astray? As we all know, that's the real test, when something goes missing. I hope none of us have to endure that process.

    Stay safe everyone.

Gawd knows. If I had my way, I'd be back out there tomorrow. I'm a senior, too (67), but I don't buy into the mass hysteria about this. If I was frail or had health issues (or had contact with anyone who was/is), I'd be more concerned, but that's not the case.

That's handy, 'cos we're not f*****g selling it on Basschat as AFAIK. This is not the common cold/flu or anything like it. I know a couple of fit and healthy people that have gone down with this and they very nearly didn't make it back.

Your flippant comment is insensitive to those that have lost acquaintances, at the very least.

My gut feeling is that we won’t be out gigging here in the U.K. until Aug/Sep. Lockdown restrictions will start to ease but I fear pubs/ clubs and gatherings (weddings/ parties) will be the last things to have restrictions lifted.

Yes, I had heard that the entertainment/leisure industries will be the last to open. Doesn’t bode well for gigs in 2020.

Just to add to the apparent concencus - wenge.

I've used every usual neck wood there is, plus carbon and aluminium; and the wenge neck (wax finish) on my Warwick Streamer has the nicest feel of any of them.   The other benefit is I fitted 3mm "blue" luminlay dots on the side as the old eyes are going a bit, and they really stand out in any lighting conditions against the dark wood (which they would on a rosewood board too I know, but being larger than standard side dots they overlap into the neck).

Funny you should mention that. My one will also be having blue luminlay side dots. I've not had them before, so looking forward to seeing how they are.

  5. Thanks for your input guys. It's nice to have it confirmed that wenge does have characteristics that set it apart from maple.

SIMPLIFY THE DECISION :- If both necks were available at same time what one would you pick. That's your answer IMHO.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell Dave 👍

In a word, yes.  It's all down to personal preference, but i find wenge aesthetically and tonally the best choice for a neck wood overall, and I believe off memory Sheldon actually recommends Wenge on custom builds, or historically has.  It will be great either way, but the Dingwall wenge necks are something special, and whats a few months when its a custom build?

Thanks Kev. That is generally what I thought regarding the custom build/wait time. For a bass that is going to cost what it does, the wait time shouldn't really come into it.

Your thoughts regarding wenge are much appreciated 👍

  7. I created a topic in General Discussion as well, but I’ll paste it here to copy those who follow Dingwall:

I’ve put a deposit down on a Dingwall. I opted for a Wenge neck to go with the Wenge fingerboard rather than the maple neck. I think it would look better with a Wenge neck and I’m also led to believe it would have a more compressed/grindy sound compared to the Maple which I’m just fine with.

It appears that if I commit to the Wenge neck it will push delivery towards the end of 2020 and if I revert back to Maple (which I could have blacked out anyway) then it would bring delivery forward significantly. I have to admit that the Wenge neck was an afterthought, but once I had considered the option, I really fancied it. I’ve not had the opportunity to play a Dingwall with a Wenge neck so I’m now wondering what I should do. I’m not in any rush to get the bass, I’m just wondering other than the difference in look, would the wait be worth it?

  8. I’ll post this in Dingwall Bass Porn as well, but would like opinions on this please if possible.

Pics please... or at the very least a detailed description. 😃

Can’t share pictures as it hasn’t been built yet.

    It’s blue and it’s got 5 strings 😜

  11. Agreed with pretty much all that has been said. There are a couple of overpriced basses I can think of here that get listed over and over again with a new thread every time. Also, there are a couple of sellers that can barely string a couple of decent sentences together to encourage a sale. Basschat's general answer to this is they get ignored and quite rightly so. It's not exclusive to Basschat by any stretch either.

Sonus is the same shape as the original NS-2 without the curved back. Very much like Fodera Monarch, but on steroids = the CF neck. If possible, I might opt for a 519 (or H), black hardware, and some darker top. But the price, which is around £5000 means this is just wishful thinking.

Ooh, I do like a Monarch. My one doesn’t need performance enhancing drugs 😂

I've had 3 Sonus basses and I'm looking for another!  :)  re. spec; they have a broad range of preamp and pup combos with choices of body wood tops... but none of them will be cheap!  ;)

There’s a pre-owned one on The Bass Gallery’s website at the moment, but the spec is a little sparse. I think I would want to know a little more about it and give it a test drive before jumping in. Not likely at the moment unfortunately.

  14. Having watched many of Mr.Clayton’s videos, I now have an unexpected and compelling urge to get a Zon Sonus.

I know nothing about them, how much they cost and what their spec are, but his just sounds so good.

Yes, I know it’s all in his hands 😜
