...and so i got the second cab today, at a local shop for less money than the internet! Can't wait for band practice on monday to wheel them out! Lozz, i tied the 410 from the same series, and it's ok. Not great, but ok.It doesn't have the neo magnets in the speakers, so it weighs like a normal 410, which is quite a bit. still less than most TE and Peavey cab though, and a one man lift. Soundwise, it's pretty loud and with good low mids.Using the shop's matching rumble 350 amp and aerodyne precision, the sound is nicely rounded and define, but certainly not aggressive or modern. In short, i quite like it, but i prefer the 112. At 250 pounds it had me thinking for a bit
You won't regret getting the 2nd cab, let us know how they handled the rehearsal!
Good looking cabs with the silver cloth. I wouldn't have thought that would have made an improvement, but it did.
It realy did, i bought the cloth after getting my first cab, my band plays funk/soul/r&b and the modern look of that (ugly) metal grill was a bit off the rest of the band's look so out of pure vanity i replaced it by the cloth and the cabs ended up looking very sexy (and i can swear that they sound better now, )! It makes me wonder why Fender put that awfull grill on the original cabs when thay had the cloth (it's the fender vintage silver cloth) available...

I had the 1x10" combo and the 1x10" extension cab, it sounded great but it lacked a bit of power handling on the low side. I was hoping for a 12" version of that stack! Why did Ibanez did this new series? It's completely wrong regarding all the expectations that people who tried the former series had in mind!!! Very bad move Ibanez!!!

Fender Jazz V (passive) - help with identification!
Ghost_Bass replied to Ghost_Bass's topic in Bass Guitars
Yep, i know that and you're quite right. I don't need another bass, i just want to sell my Thumb so i can place an order for a Super12T, i'm just wondering if that Fender would worth the same as the Thumb and if it would be easier to move along... -
Taking new list prices, 5 string Fender Jazz is 1.35 times as expensive as a 4 string. Hopefully that can give you a starting point taking used 4 string prices on here.
Going this route i found some 4 stringers on the FS forum going for around £600, adding the 1.35 factor it would be around £800ish for the 5 version. Would anyone spend this amount on this bass (after a good clean, setup, new strings, nut and replacing some rusty screws)? -
Fender Jazz V (passive) - help with identification!
Ghost_Bass replied to Ghost_Bass's topic in Bass Guitars
Good point sir! Judging by the bridge i get the feeling that he tried to get a bigger string spacing and first thing on my mind is that he may have routed the slot a bit to get more spacing near the nut... i'm starting to get put of from this one. I'm still waiting to hear some opinions on it's value, i think the model is realy a 2005 American Standart (USA) Jazz V, how much is it worth on the market? I see them priced at $1.800,00 on Fender site! -
Razze, two 112 would handle a good bottom and if you place them both on the ground they would benefit some extra coupling but it all will depend on thew power you need on stage, like i said they are a bit limited in power if you have a very loud drummer or play in the middle of two guitards with a 4x12 valve stack!

Serial starts with Z5 plus 5 digits so it's from 2005. Anybody has an idea of it's value? Cheers -
I'm seriously considering selling the TC cab and get another rumble 112... Lozz196, they have one for sale in a local shop here in edinburgh. Possibly not much help for you, but I'm planning to pay them a visit anyway...
They sound very good, the sound is sweet and defined. With both on the ground side by side you have lots of bottom at your service. Next to a TC 112 the TC has more bass buth the mids and highs on the rumble are better. I took them to a bash last weekend and they were a pleasant surprise, they held their ground in the middle of Jerzy, Smith, Warwick, Walter Woods, Avalon, Gallien Krueger, TC. I can only put two faults on my cabs, the power handling could be bigger and the tweeter control would benefit from a pot insted of that 3 way switch. I'm not going to do a full review of that bash due to lack of time but once i upload the videos from that day over here you'll hear it for yourself!

Yep, from the Fender site i got that feeling although the logo doesn't look the same: http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0190760700 I've asked the guy to send me the serial so we can clarify this -
Hi, i've been offered this bass on a trade but i'm not sure on what model it is and it's (used) value so i'm counting on BC's knowledge to help me out on this. From the look i would say it's an american standart, i haven't got the serial yet but as soon as i know it i'll be posting it here. Here's some pics: https://picasaweb.google.com/106572846091439162015/JazzV?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCPCuuYOmpZ_rIw&feat=directlinkhttps://picasaweb.google.com/106572846091439162015/JazzV?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCPCuuYOmpZ_rIw&feat=directlink#slideshow/5696804362470462402 Thank you!

Probably it's just one of those brands that buy a product from a manufacturer/factory and put their stamp on it, it's possible that you might find an amp looking exactly like yours but with a different brand!

New Gig, New Rig hit me with smallish goodish amps
Ghost_Bass replied to Dave Vader's topic in Amps and Cabs
The Promethean combo sounds like a good option. Don't be fooled by the 10" driver, it kicks out some serious bass. Only flaw is the B string handling on a 5er. The Marcacoustic AC101 (wich has a 12" model: AC121) would behave better than the Promethean but at twice the price... -

What's your price range? -
Very nice and retro
Yep, that was the idea. I prefer the look of the cloth and it goes better with my current band's style, a Funk/Soul/R&B covers project (see link on my sig )

How about making this a sticky? This is a very recurring question and this topic is very well explained and the images are very helpfull!

With some rags and a few mods my rumbles went from this: to this: Cheers P.S. - Any similarity with a well known fellow BC cabinet maker's products its not a coincidence...

swapping speakers from 1x15 to 2x10 (ashdown)
Ghost_Bass replied to clashcityrocker's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've been on your position. I've had a TE 1x15 combo and wanted a 2x10 to go with it (before i discovered bass foruns and the beauty of class-d/neodimyum rigs). I've ended up buying a used 2x10 TE combo and swapped to head of the 1x15 (more powerfull and more features) by the one in the 2x10. I've left the 1x15 with the hole. A few days later i've covered the hole with a piece os cardboard with some TE racing stripes that i´ve printed on the offices plotter. The sound was lovely and it looked right to me. If i can find a pic of it i'll post it here! -
Genz Benz shuttle 9.0 into a Ae112 berg cab?
Genz Benz shuttle 9.0 into a Ae112 berg cab?
Yes, please! -
I realy need to take pics of my 5PII (in ovangkol)... i love TRB's! Best sound and playability i've come across!
-
Hopefully Alex will come out with a new cab soon and then there will be plenty on the FS section for me buy one at a bargain!!! Or i'll just have to order one myself next year...

You guys should really stop posting pics of your sexy S12T's in vintage cloth or i should stop coming to this forum... i can't afford to spend more money in gear for now and a don't need a fourth cab in times that selling is difficult.... but i just have to have one of those cabs...... GAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
That's not an issue, i drive two Rumble 112 250W cabs with my suttle 9.0 but at decent levels so the cabs are completely safe! I think i should mention that the power amp in the shuttle 9.0's isn't realy 900W, i think everybody knows that! In fact the same power amp is equipping the TH500 that is stated to have 500W! This is from what i've picked up on the web, if there's a more reliable opinion out there please correct me! Going back to the OP after starting to gig with my new band my limiter LED started to light up often so i added a second cab to the amp making it waork at 4Ohms and the LED never lid up againg since. I would prefer a single cab solution but for now i'm perfectly heppy with my 12's (9,5kg each).

only if you want a speaker monitoring your self. your amp (like all other transistor amps) works perfectly fine without the load. Just one thing, you can keep your master volume knob down so that you're no sending unneeded signal to the power stage.

No, never did that.
