1. Oh, not this again! When this was originally up for sale I showed the missus some pics of it saying it was the most delicious bass I've ever seen and that it was for sale. You know what she said? "Go on, treat yourself". Very tempting but I can't justify spending the money at the moment. Have a bump for a beautiful bass.
2. My biggest regret is is drilling holes in my lovely USA Jazz bass to fit a chrome bridge cover/ashtray which only stayed on for a couple days. Now the lacquer has cracked around the holes and it looks pretty awful. I've been thinking about getting it repaired by a luthier but I'm not sure how well it would turn out.

4.
It's certainly a quality bass which retains a classic vintage quality whilst adding a little extra.
I'm seriously considering a Sadowsky Metro for this very reason. My only trouble is deciding between the RV4 in olympic white and the MV4 in natural. Hmmm Can anyone tell me if there's much difference in tone between the RV4 (alder body/rosewood board) and the MV4 (ash body/maple board) please? Cheers, Ray
5. I used to use ER20s but I had the same problem as you. They cut the high frequencies a lot more than the low ones creating a muffled, muddy mix. From your last post you sound like you're getting used to them which is good. I couldn't get used to them so I splashed out on the custom moulded ER15s (£160 from Specsavers). I couldn't believe the difference. The ER15s are in a different league altogether. They cut all frequencies much more evenly than the ER20s creating a more natural mix. It now sounds like I'm not wearing earplugs and the band have just turned down. I find them a lot more comfortable too. I found that after about half an hour wearing the ER20s my ears began to itch like crazy. I can wear the ER15s for hours and forget they're there! Best 160 quid I ever spent, honestly.
6. 3 London dates added!
7.
Do you think that through the body stringing makes a significant difference?
It did on my bass. Slightly more sustain. And it just felt better - more rigid.
8. I am also very happy with the "bent tin" bridge. My Jazz is 2004 so I have the slightly chunkier bridge WoT referred to (not the new HMV bridge). It also has grooves for the grub screws so the saddles don't move from side to side. I think it's also worth noting that if your bass is strung through the body a BadAss bridge won't make the slightest bit of difference to sustain or tone, IMO.
9. Very funny!

Hi everyone!

Welcome Grant! I might have to come and see you guys play next time I'm on the Island. Usually get over there once a year to see family in Brading. Ray

16.
It is best to think in terms of key centres rather then chords. The opening five chords of Scrapple, for instance, are all in the key of F major so, rather than thinking of each chord, you can approach it as a II V I in F major - one scale fits 5 chords. You go through the chart and look at sequences of chords in order to find the 'blocks' of chords in each key centre. When you look at these charts in this way, they become a bit less iintimidating (eventually )
This sounds interesting. I'll give it a go. Also, shouldn't that be ii V I rather than II V I?
17. Yes, keep it coming! Good thread Syed. I've just started a jazz trio with a drummer and my sister on piano and I have no idea what I'm doing!
18. Matt bought my 105Q wah recently. Trouble free transaction. Super quick payment. Top bloke!
19.
Looking like a 4 string set. If it is a 5 string set then I will take them.
I'm pretty sure you can buy low B and high C singles.
20. Thought I'd give these strings a try but didn't get on with light gauge. They were only on my bass for about 5 minutes - put them on, tuned up, took them off straight away! They felt lovely though - smooth and silky, just too light for me. I paid £34.95 for them. Looking for [s]£25[/s] £20 posted. 21. Booked for 2 festivals this year so far. Beachdown in Brighton. Apparently we're quite a way below Fatboy Slim on the bill but above the Sugarhill Gang! And the Saint Paul Soul Jazz festival in the south of France. We've played this one twice before. 2 bands per night over 3 nights. It's a really nice long weekend away staying in a beautiful part of the world. Other bands on the bill are Lefties Soul Connection, Sweet Vandals, Rare Groove Orchestra, The Perceptions and Phat Fred. Should be a right larf!
22. Bump for this Friday's Jelly Jazz gig at the Eden Project....
