Would you return it to Jimmy to get it bound?
Given the value of these things and the importance of provenance, I'd be very tempted to return it to Jimmy to get the job done. He knows his necks and his fretting techniques too so it might be better all round if Jimmy was to carry out the work. All this said, I'm in two minds - the bass looks lovely without the binding!
That's the only thing I wish was different on my AC - bound board.
Don't want to get too off topic, but ...absolutely - I've been considering having the board on my blue AC bound. However, it's DN and I'm told Jimmy isn't always happy about reducing the visible area with binding/blocks etc. Dots, bound and beans does look a bit gorgeous though...
I was going to post a new pic of my fretless hipshot lollyed P, as it it now in addition to the tuners pictured in my first post of this thread, one tuner has now been replaced with a lolly D-tuner - but as its the same as the on in lozbass's pic I guess I'll put the camera down
Pick the camera up again, I suspect many viewers will much prefer the shape of your headstock!

Never heard of them (I think) but I like the bass very much! Is it a short-scale?
The Shoreline Gold J Classic is the only bass I never considered selling. I think you are the fifth person to ask (!), but will let you know if I ever consider selling it.
Haha - it was a joke really...however, it's a stunning instrument (...so if it is ever up for sale!) Thanks for the kind words on the Celinder P Vintage - it's the most playable neck I've ever experienced - so slim, it just melts away. Indeed, the bass is so light, it's kind of easy to forget about it and just think about what you want to play - it's one of those instruments that doesn't get in the way of what you want to do. No niggles, no giltches, nothing weird - just perfectly responsive - a joy!

Utterly beautiful - congratulations to both you and the builder - a dream realised. The attention to detail and finishing on the bass appear to be of the very highest order - it puts me in mind of Alembic in this regard. A staggering bass and worth the wait and effort
Hope you are still enjoying that amazing P Vintage
I'm certainly still enjoying it - something of a revelation! I think it's the most easily playable bass I've owned (and the list currently includes Alembics, ACs, Status - previously, Overwater, Fodera, Sei etc.) Should you ever require a new home for that gorgeous gold 4, then drop me a line ...seriously, that stack J is just stunning! Molan - what a pair - staggering. Next time I'm down, I must try to ensure it's via Henley!

Not a fan of the red at all, the green looks better to me. Neither really appeal. Denis Galuska has done some pretty weird stuff for Fender over the past few years (check out the masterbuilders profiles). That said, I had a Jazz fretless built by him - it was an absolutely stunning bass - beautifully constructed with serious boutique attention to detail. Fabulous tone and playability too. My fretless technique (or lack thereof) was the only reason it was moved on

Here's mine a Vintage P

Epifani ul502 - sweepable mids on one channel - very nice even tone (and super quiet and fairly light)
-
Aguilar DB750 or DB751 - should pair beautifully with the GS cabs and will run down at 2ohms

"Lots of variables and they can make a huge difference to the price (both new & used). Nitro finish and upgraded fingerboards are both expensive & very desirable options" +1 - not much change out of £3.5k for something at the upper end (classic supreme, custom and signature). I'm trying to be objective but won't deny I have a couple of ACs - both fours. It's probably unrealistic to expect to get any AC at under £2k in the UK (especially so given the exchange rate). A more realistic figure is something like £2400-2800 for a 'standard' model, and £3k and up - possibly well up - for nitro and DN options. It's worth watching TB - prices can appear attractive but you'll have to factor-in shipping, VAT, import duty etc.

Woohoo - lovely! Is this an ash body (I think its the RAs that are maple-alder)? The binding appears to be very nicely executed. I love the Alleva etching on the pickups too - very nice touch (this doesn't appear on the four cases)
Hi, Loz I know this is old post, but probably useful for that: I'm wondering how you rate the UL 112 now, having had it a while, any misgivings? I'm thinking of one, or else bergantino 112 or possibly barefeced compact. I play 4 & 5 string elec as well as elec and acoustic upright. I already have EBS neo112 (with replaced normal driver, much fuller sound), EBS 210 and Demeter 3x10 cabs, Peavey and Eden WT800 tops. Cheers, GerryK.
Hi Gerry, Weird that I saw this today after such a thread hiatus. No misgivings at all on the ul112 - it's still serving admirably (as did the ul112 combo I had for a while). I've used the cab at much greater volume in the past months and with 5 and 6 string basses. The low B and high C didn't trouble the cab at all - same full, very even, accurate response. I didn't push the cab very hard with a low B - I'd be a little concerned that it wouldn't be happy - no problem at moderate volumes however. We're now on the Series II ul cabs - I honestly haven't had a chance to compare. Given what you're using at the moment, I'm not sure you'd have a significant improvement with an Epi - that said, I've not made a direct comparison. Cheers, L

Yep again - as other suggest, it may be well worthwhile having a look around the For Sale section on this site - generally good and honest peaple and some realistic pricing. You can't always try before you buy of course (depending on location)

+1 on the Gallery in Camden - a great selection of gear (much of it well within the price range you've suggested) and really expert, non-patronising assistance. You might want to think about holding a bit of your budget back for new strings and a set-up (this can make a huge difference to any bass). If you go to the Gallery, Martin might be prepared to do some tweaking/set-up work on the spot (if he's around and not massively busy).
