Er, I don't see why not, though they may take too much off in one pass. I have no experience with diamond hones. I still use oil stones :s

Adam Clayton model? Maybe Adam Clayton should buy it then.

Insanely clean 1962 Jazz Bass....
lettsguitars replied to Rick's Fine '52's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Actually, any vintage player or collector will tell you that this is certainly worth at least £10k, so starting the auction at offers under £12k, is not unreasonable. Its probably the best '62 Jazz anywhere. What you mean, is it's not worth that much to you, which is fair enough, most people would agree with you. This bass is not aimed at most people though is it. The same way that a spotty deckchair cover isn't worth £15k to me, but Damian Hirst collectors would disagree. Everything has a market value (As opposed to a value to you, or me, or any other individual), and the market value of this, is somewhere in the region of his price. Regarding the comment "They're not even very good". Most bass players who have actually played an all original '60-'62 jazz, would probably tell you different. Having played one, and owned one many years ago, it was the nicest sounding, and easiest to play bass i ever touched. Anything as clean as this, is going to command top money, just like the '59 P he sold last month.
Of course. but still, come on -

I dont care how clean any guitar is. Not worth 20 grand of any idiots money. If it's worth that much it should be in a museum. They're not even very good for f's sake. "Have you got a dirty one? I'll clean it myself!" -
Well, it amuses me, sometimes. The D-45 seller eventually replied to me saying she was up in Orkney, when I asked about viewing/collection. No probs, I said, I'd be on the first flight up next again day from Edinburgh. The contact stopped right after that!
You're providing a valuable public service. Love it!

Black dog are very good indeed. Not sure about those A-style copies though. As me mate says "is it monkey metal?", yes it is. The hipshot stuff is quality and you get what you pay for. I order a lot from hipshot at a good price. pm me if you want owt.

The important thing here is to make sure any sealer primer or colour coat is compatible with the clear coat. If you used cellulose or acrylic colour, use a cellulose clear. Cellulose is real easy to apply, dries QUICK which eliminates a lot of the dust problems, and is easily touched up as it burns into previous layers. I'd stay away from polyurethane 'laquer' unless you want it super tough. Nitro can be applied really thin and in my view adds a nice sparkle to the tone.
Let's see. He's emailing me pix. I've already flushed out one liar this week over a vintage Martin D-45! ;-)
A man on a mission!
Same thing applies, I think you still need that lateral movement for the spring to move in or else it'll not have enough space to make a positive contact. I guess the nearest analogy is like trying to punch someone hard when you've only got a 1/2" gap between you. I'm not sure about this 6mm plug thing either. I've always known 1/4" jacks as being 6.35mm and I suspect that someone has 'rounded off' the .35mm from the description - I've found one website where the 'headling description is "6mm Jack Plug" but when you look in 'More Details' it states 6.35mm. Just to add to the general merriment, I've even found a 6.3mm one listed.
They're buggers for it! I only glanced into it recently and i found a few at 6mm and left it at that with a sigh. More research is needed.

Yup. Best leave it. A granny would have used a picture of the body, not the headstock.
I'm no mechanic but I'd guess that you need a little bit of lateral movement or else the contacts won't have enough 'travel' to be able to push against the plug.
S houlda mentioned, It's the barrel type that i use. If you put pressure on the side of the plug, you lose the signal. As i say, I'm pretty sure it's a cable/socket compatibility thing but just wondered if anyone had any info. There are 6mm plugs and 1/4" plugs which seems daft to me.

A piece of nostalgia for someone no doubt. I would love to get hold of my first guitar again and would pay a premium for the pleasure. black aria pro ii inazuma, single humbucker and red lightning, if anyone has one.
I thought the usual problem was with the shape/profile of the tip bending the +R contact so it loses it's 'springyness'.
hmm. dunno. With the sealed stereo sockets There just seems to be a bit of wiggle right from the off.
-
I use neutrik jacks on my guitars. The thing is they are 1/4" (6.35) and as far as i know, most cables are 6mm which creates problems with the stereo sockets. WHA GWAN? Should probably put in a new topic but what the hey, as they're seems to be some cable knowledge right here. Am i wrong? or am i wrong?

Gotta be well worth a coupla grand for the experience.

Strings off. Truss rod adjust to get dead flat (use a straight edge), mask off the board, permanent marker along the tops of the frets. level frets with 320 grit paper stuck on a flat thing (the marker shows where your high/low spots are), recrown with sanding pad (the easy way), polish with wet/dry to 1200 (concentrating on the fret sides not the tops) then buff with jewellers rouge. There's nothing to it, but it's hard to explain without physically showing it done. There are numerous youtube videos that are pretty good. No reason why you can't get very low action providing the neck's a good un. You do get problem necks that obviously need a little more work, relevelling the board etc. Hope this helps.

I believe most cables have some sort of impact on tone. Couldn't say which are worst but i noticed a particularly bad fender curly patch lead which rips the highs from my signal.
