Not so much the strings that cause it. A tighter or looser truss rod affects the stiffness of the neck to some degree, and sometimes has an effect. As does the tightness or otherwise of the neck joint, which was mentioned recently.

Yes, TIs seem to exacerbate this due to their very low tension. I switched to ECB81 Chromes and the need for the truss rod to be tightened a little helps reduce it. Less of a problem on USA Fender necks with reinforcement.

I got given my The Alien by Warwick. Kept it a vouple of years, even did one 20s swing gig with it, but I'm one of those "if you have to plug it in, might as well use my Precision" guys!

I'd go for it. Like almost every other ABG, it's not loud enough without an amp for anything except noodling. Even the hand-built The Alien isn't. And they are certainly fine otherwise.

Use a tuning fork occasionally. If something is off after that, time to check intonation. Particularly on 6-string g**tar.

This would be my favourite colour if I wanted a rosewood board Precision. Lovely!

I've used the 121H for 9 years now. Although it is that bit bigger, it's worth having. The horn is better than the tweeter, if that's relevant, and the bigger cab gives a bit more beef to the liw end. Still a one-hander at 39lb. I stand it on a 151p Traveler when I need the full 500W. Great rig.

The Rock 'n' Roll Outlaws folded last Christmas, but such is the fanbase, we have a one-off NYE reunion at The Wharf in Tavy. Two 90-minute sets (our idea). If it sells out, which is very likely, we'll end up with a minimum of £500 each, and it will be a bonkers night, guaranteed!
