  1. Thank you very much. I will have a good look through this when I am home later on. Extremely useful.
  2. Thank you. Is that to be wire 6 from the volume pot side?
  3. Hi All, Any Schack pre-amp users here who can help? Before I take this Sei to the Gallery (quite a trek for me), I was wondering if anyone can help with this loose grey wire. I can't see to see where it's popped off from, and everything 'seems' to be working ok, but I don't want to leave it loose. Can anybody compare their Schack wiring with mine or help at all? Thanks in Advance, Greg
  4. Indeed. Ciocks DC7 for me for similar reasons.
  5. It was these types that I was refering to https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_powerplant_iso_5_pro.htm Can't cut the Euro plug off these.
  6. Ciocks DC7 would be great for that, or similar. Go for isolated power outputs if your budget can stretch. Lots on the market. Be careful with the cheaper range from Thomann as may need a euro to GB mains adaptor.
  7. Still available and looking to be played lots in 2022
  8. I posted my other pedal-board some months ago (for doubling gigs: double bass and elec bass), but here is my mini & light-weight board for straightforward electric bass gigs ( e.g. bigband, jazz sets, singer-songwriter style gigs etc). On the occasion I need a bit of warmth, I use the tone feature on the Empress and/or the pre-amp valve on my Mesa WD800 head, or I add-on a pre-amp. For power, underneath this one I use a Cioks ADAM. The board is a Rockboard Duo 2. If I need a couple of extra effects, typically I'd 'add-on' something like my OC5 Octave and Raffery Fuzz, which I keep velcro'd to a stand-alone riser plate (but power using the remaining power outlet from the Adam).
  9. I use Mesa Subway 2x10s. I have two of these, but I find that I rarely need to use both. However, when only using 1 cab, I use a small hard-foam wedge to help point sound slightly more upwards towards my ears.
  10. Hi use Custom Lynx, and although a little more expensive than off-the-shelf ones, are really well made and fully customizable (name lables etc). Scroll down the page for standard 3 pin ones: https://custom-lynx.co.uk/product-category/digita-lighting-power/mains-power/trailing-sockets/
  11. Nice bass. Sting or string?
  12. Then mic type XLRs should be fine in this instance. Powered amps going to passive speakers would need suitable cables for carrying such 'powered' signal - usually Speakons etc too.
  13. Is this for passive or active speakers??
  14. He said that he jumped ship 😂 Welcome Ashore...... 😁
  15. Hi Steve. Yes, still here. Do feel free to send me a quick message if you would like them. Cheers, Greg
  16. Shame this wasn't closer. I had a four string Excess before and always fancied a 5 of the same. But I would need to check the B string first. Are you ever down Hampshire way?
  17. Looks like an original rather than a Flamboyant to me... not that it matters, as I own both an original and a flamboyant and they are both great basses. Enjoy!
  18. It's about in the middle of average weight for a Jazz bass. For me, it's a nice balance of tone / weight, of course this is subjective for others. Please do pop by any try out if you are interested. Thank you.
  19. Hi, 4.1kg on my bathroom scales. Cheers, Greg
  20. Withdrawn from sale. Decided to keep as a backup.
  21. Another ACS hearing protection user here and long-term sufferer of mild Tinnitus. I use the 17s, as close to flat-response with Db reduction as you'll get (IMO): https://www.acscustom.com/uk/products/hearing-protection/pro-series/pro-17 I also (ordered using the same moulds) use the ACS Sleepsound https://www.acscustom.com/uk/products/sleep-sound These were purchased to protect from a loud snorer at home; equally as annoying as Tinnitus.
  22. GR AT Carbon 110 (4Ohms) - Ordered early last month from Bass Direct, arrived today! Although I use Mesa Subway 210's and Mesa heads, with lots of smaller jazz (Double Bass) and small ensemble work around the corner I felt the need for a very portable and light 1x10. Having read Jay's thread (@JayCarterMusic) and also hearing directly about his further experience of these new GR carbon cabs (thanks Jay) I sold some under-used pedals and some other equipment to fund this purchase. Although I won't use this too much for electric bass, I wanted to be able to fly with it as I have a couple of wedding gigs in Europe next year and the year after too, hence ordering a 4ohm version to ensure I can use as a standalone cab (I will continue to use my Mesa rigs for electric / larger gigs, festivals etc). From the few hours I have had with the cab today, it sounds tight but warm with double bass and it certainly can handle a low B string (rear port seems to help project well). I am really happy and my first impressions are great, but I will post more once I've gigged this a few times. I've included a few pics for ref. 1) Cab 2) Cab with my back-up Quilter head 3) Cab with my Mesa head (perfect width BTW) 4) Cab with my angled wedges normal used with my Mesa cabs
  23. Hello and welcome... enjoy the new hobby too!
