  2. Hi Donny. I’m afraid I’m not looking to trade. I really need a sale. Will consider close offers though. Derrick
  3. Looks great, i'm over Brighton way, would it be possible to arrange to come over and try it with my bass amp? Are you looking for cash or bank transfer?
  4. Really appreciate the offer mate, but I'm away next week.
  5. 1980 Fender Precision special, Lake Placid blue. Wired passively due to the active circuit needing a repair. 4.9kg as is typical for this model. I'm sure the circuit would be easy to fix, the bass works very well as is; priced to account for this issue. Great sounding bass, really even over the board without the 6th/7th fret G string dead spot problem. I've played many eras of P basses and this measures up sonically with the best of them. Selling due to it being a lean year for gigs. I can supply gut shots if required but there's no additional routing and due to the painted headstock it's pretty obvious it's not a bitsa. UK sale only, collection only but happy to meet up within reason. Fender fibreglass case ( well used and heavily stickered) included. Original parts included obviously also. Thanks for viewing, Martin
  6. Thanks for your input guys. I'll go and have a look at it. I've talked my D B player mate into coming along so will see how it works out.
  7. 400 miles?....well it's got wheels and it's all downhill when you look at the map.
  8. Congrats! They are amazing and versatile heads--and generally much underappreciated. I'm an Ampeg tube head guy, but love my ABM (same as yours). One pre tube doesn't replace a head full of tubes, but Ashdown has the best implementation of one tube pre I've ever played. I wish I had bought one years ago.
  9. Well I may be in Edinburgh at the weekend and travelling to Peterborough on Thursday if that helps? Don’t mind bringing it that far buddy
  10. Well there’s a Fodera in the classifieds for £5! Same scenario maybe? 😂
  11. Powers up (with generic 9V) but has very quiet, slightly distorted sound. I suspect it’s the volume pot gone but could be more… Otherwise in physically good condition. Could be a good project for the DIY enthusiasts out there.. Price is posted to the uk.
  12. All unused, top quality sets. Double ball ends but possibly can be used for shorter basses. 37” length. (I could use the outer strings on my standard scale bass but would rather sell as sets). * Newtone 5 string sets x 6: Diamond Bass, hex core, stainless steel, 46-130, length 37” (ball end to ball end) with tapered B. £25 each (discount for multi purchase) ( I also have a Hot Wires 5 string flat wound set…pm me)
  13. Shame that this is still here…. Took it out on a gig on Sat and it was as expected…..special!👌🏽 Waiting on a luck owner🤞🏽
  14. Have no idea.🤷🏽‍♂️ Not really prepared to mess with anything. A quick clean sale is preferable….
  15. Maybe usable with other similar guitars? Unused so in mint condition. Postage possible…

  17. It's all very subjective. I wanted to get the Electra closer to German, so I did preamp, pickups and tuners. Aguilar are small pole and Alnico so psychologically more vintage. And I had the bits here already. Tone is good across the Sandbergs without any tweaking though! VM4 and Central to go, then I have the full set!
  18. Lionel is active with passive switching, I traded a Stingray for it, it's not the Bass Direct one!

  20. @horrorshowbass, you could also try a set of Dogal Hellborg Perfect Pitch JH171 (6S) round wound nickel strings as they are made with only one wire wrapped around the core, so (almost) completely eliminating any intonation issue especially on the lower strings. Their tension is very low, think Thomastik, but your bass will thank you as well as your ears. BUT, they are very very very expensive. https://www.dogalstrings.it/en/perfect-pitch Worth reading their explanation. 😉
  21. Always wanted to try one of these... 400 miles away though 🥲

  23. Just as @Belka said raising the thickness of the string is absolutely not the solution, except if you only play an opened B and nothing else. The thicker the string, the worse the intonation is, so with a B string, never go thicker than 0.135 gauge. The clarity and definition (and more important intonation) can be improved by the string construction, not by its thickness, which will do the opposite. Guess why piano strings are exposed core for most of them, especially in low end part...
  24. A week too late, bugger! Epic cabs these 👌
  25. Thanks. It felt like something that happens in a hospital drama, not real life.! I was just meaning that it goes both ways after someone dies and it isn't always just old people with perhaps more complicated estates.
