Slimming down my studio gear at present, aiming to only have what I need rather than a lot of spare capacity! This has been very well looked after and has probably ad no more than 200hours use (still has the plastic stuff on the display!). I only use it for tracking as I use a UAD Satellite to manage plugins while mixing. Come with all original packaging/documentation. Happy to courier or for collection in person in Whitstable or London Also moving on a pair of Towsend Labs/UAD L22 Sphere modelling mics here

These products do not seem to be suitable for your hands. If the price is right, you can buy ten instruments to cover holes in the wall.

I was 'in' 9 bands at one point 1990s). Jazz works very differently to most other genres and rehearsals are rare so the only conflicts are gigs. Everyone makes sure they have a selection of competent deps so all basses are covered (see what I did there). There are charts and dots and everyone uses a basket of skills to make it work. Knowledge of the repertoire, the ways in which music is put together, the ways endings work, certain genre expectations etc. Jazz musicians generally have big ears so they can pull off something that, to an untrained ear, can sound miraculous. There are a million formulas for these things. Most of the best gigs I have ever done have been with musicians I have never met before let alone rehearsed with. Obviously rehearsals have the potential to make everything better but the realities of gigging for professional musicians makes frequent rehearsals economically unviable. In my experience, one rehearsal can even make things worse sometimes as you end up confused by details that impede your thinking. Also, reading dots and preparing quality charts can make rehearsal time incredibly productive. 'Learning' tunes can be overrated.

Unmistakably Camel. I will put it on the list. I have been working on a guitar chart this week and it it exhausting. I did the Haden charts for a break and have a Marc Johnson chart that I should finish today. My next target is 646 transcriptions which would be 200 since I came back on line.

Sorry to hear about the dodgy gig and w@nker of a client (it happens) but they are 2 crackin‘ looking basses Gromit!

I have owned one of these in the past. Don't be put off by the shape - I found mine surprisingly ergonomic - it balances well and the top edge of the body formed what I can only describe as a "shelf" for my forearm to rest on. Really quite pleasant playing experience, and sounded good too. I felt enriched and enlightened by the experience of owning and playing one. And yes, you feel like a bloomin' rock god when you're playing it - you will throw shapes and pull faces. GLWTS!

I’ll let you off with a warning this time…😂 Interviewed RS once and was staggered to find he doesn’t rate himself as a musician at all. In Hatfield and the North he had impostor syndrome! But what a wizard on the de-fretted Jazz.

Thankyou for the warm welcome to the forum, I'll probably lurk for a bit and find my way about, already finding the forum super helpful. I've started with a second-hand black Yamaha BB434, standard apart from a black pickguard and a small Orange practice amp. As an aside, the bass was used by the previous (pro musician) owner on the incidental music for "Homes under the Hammer" off the telly - ok it's not Physical Graffiti but it's.. something! Not often out in the city but do go to gigs at the Lemon Tree, Tunnels and Drummonds etc 👍 Mostly gigs where everyone is either bald or grey. PS favourite player is probably JJ Burnel, it's just taken me nearly 50 years to pick up the bass after first hearing him! Late starter indeed, plus too many other hobbies. Although I listen to anything and everything these days.

Surf green (nitro) Fender American Original build. Body and neck are NOS, sourced from Reverb, pickguard also NOS, from Armstrong Music, and the build was by a brilliant local luthier. Mike Dirnt 59 pickups installed, CTS pots, Fender 0.1 wax cap. Gotoh relic knobs and RES-O-LITE machine heads. Pickups are Mike Dirnt 59. Bridge is Fender Pure Vintage. Only the best at every step! It's cost me around £1400, and probably would have been more sensible to just buy a used one, but this is genuinely a bit special. The bass has a really nice low action and is beautifully set up, wearing GHS Precision flats. It comes in at a fantastic 8lbs. Can courier at cost. May trade for a Sandberg!

Played a birthday party in the middle of nowhere in a sweaty tent, no food or drinks with a client who made an ignorant/racist comment to out guitarist right of the bat. I also got to use my newly finished "Grandma's wallpaper" jazz bass. So 7/10 overall
