    OK - first trial of the Swiff WX520s today. Two negatives: 1) When you turn them on there is a distinct, albeit quiet, white noise hum 2) They need to be line of sight. I had a quick walk round and as soon as there was something between me and the transmitter the signal dropped out But on the the positives they are a really neat, compact, design, they definitely work, and as soon as a signal comes through you forget about the hum. I also didn't realise they accept balanced xlr, 6.35mm mono or stereo, AND 3.5mm stereo - giving all the options. You can also switch between +4dBu or -10dBV or instrument level, the latter triggering a gain control for amp free practice. Finally the transmitter is also rechargable so you don't need to plug it in either. All in all I think I forgive the two negatives as for £150 its a pretty good package.

    I owned the BP1 Compact but didn't like the tone as much as its big brother. The compact has a very different tone with a significant bump in the lower mids.

    It controls patches on my Line6 M5 multi effects, although it can do lots of other stuff too. Basically it controls things that are in the signal path.

    I am finding it more and more uncomfortable to deal with posters who, despite the fact that this is supposed to be a bass site, feel the need to bring their extremist policies into the conversation. Is this something we want to continue?

    When you use it in the third position, do you clearly hear the noise with additional LFO modulation while playing?

    Hey, Thanks for answer. So far, I've tried several power supplies, and unfortunately, the noise is the same in both positions two and three. Even on battery power. While position two is bearable because it produces roughly the same noise as the EHX Bass Clone, which I consider noisy, position three is useless because the noise is audible while playing.

    People would probably love it - extra vintage. I'm a sucker for a black/tort P Bass ever since I saw footage of Deep Purple and the LSO at the Royal Albert Hall and Roger Glover is sporting a beautiful example. Also George Murray with David Bowie. Both big influences on the young Misdee plunking away on the bass in his bedroom.
