Remembering which way intonation goes

Every time I need to set my intonation, I need to go online to remind myself that if the 12th fret is flat (relative to the open string), then I need to shorten the string, and not the other way round. Does anyone know any good tricks or mnemonics to make this easier to recall?

S.P.

Probably my favourite film scene of all time. :)
