Here's my collection of 70s Fenders (not as bright a day as I had hoped so pics slightly dark but hey, porn is porn!)

First all three

Then my newly-acquired 76 fretless P-bass (am getting a tort s/p made by Bass Doc so I have the choice of authentic black or a Jamerson-alike livery to match my 72 P)

Next up my 72 P-bass

Then my two Ps together

Since writing this I have sold the 73 Jazz (just don't get on with Jazzes)
I have to ask, Clarky - got a fave? :)
Well, SR5, my current fave is the fretless, never was the phrase 'plays like butter' more appropriate, its just lovely. If I'm cold-heartedly honest though, once the thrill of the new has worn off, I am sure I will go back to my 72 Precision. Its light, vibrant, very beefy sounding even for a P-bass, and plays really well. I am lucky to have the choice and I do appreciate the fact.

TBH, I'm not really a Jazz man, I do prefer the way a Precision hangs, plays, sounds and feels, so I'm not so sure about the long-term prognosis for the Jazz, looker though it is. I should probably keep it as I will not always be in a noisy punk band and I expect it to at least keep its value. It is unfortunately though likely to stay stored away in its tweed case for the time being.
Hey Clarky, very nice indeed - but you seem to be turning into WoT.

When you get that correct tort pickguard on the fretless will you also be moving the thumb rest to make it a tug bar like on the other two?
Is it my fault WoT is a man of consummate taste on the bass guitar front? :) I do still have my Oly White P-bass 'Sid', ET, if that proves I am not some kind of psychopathic, Munchausen's-by-bass-proxy stalker for Wot! Indeed if I had unlimited funds I would also have an Oly White Tony Franklin fretted Precision with P/J pickups and maple board. And a Fender Pino Palladino. Plus I have never been to Newcastle or the North-East, if that proves anything!

(In answer to your question, not moving the thumb rest BTW)
