£31 quid is an amazingly low price. For anything really. But, while I don't want to be rude, I'm not sure it's the most handsome bass I've ever seen.

It could actually sound pretty okay for £31, a lot of old Hondos used to come loaded with DiMarzio pickups...
I thought Maya's were pretty good. I actually preferred the Jazz one I tried to a Aria Pro II I had at the time (1988-ish). The Maya felt a bit more rugged.
I think like a lot of stuff from the Jap makers, they can vary. I've had a Maya P-Bass & a 4001S Rickenfaker. Both were good particularly the Ricky copy, but I've also seen other Maya basses & guitars that I wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

The Maya seemed quite solid to me, whereas the problem I always had with the aforementioned Aria was that it felt a bit too dainty and delicate. The neck seemed to warp just by looking at it. The Maya overall build quality seemed just solid and no frills, but good nonetheless. I was in a hardcore punk band at the time, and the Aria was lacking (in the end I went for a Westone Spectrum DX, which was waaaay better than the Aria). One man's poison, etc... :)
That's the 3rd time that SB1000 has been listed on ebay over the last month... the padouk red ones just don't seem to get snapped up as quick!

..and cheers Annoying Twit! :)
Not surprising given the approaching-top-end price and the bit which says "actives need slight attention" with no indication of what's wrong with them. It might just be a dodgy switch, or a dry joint, or a duff pot. It also might be the beginnings of the mystery fault that fries the pickup leaving you with a £100 repair bill & a non-stock example.

Caveat Emptor at work I feel.

Pete.

Yeah that wouldn't exactly fill me with confidence buying it either. It is probably something serious, or surely he'd have fixed it himself before selling it to get a better sale price? After listing it 3 times he's quite determined to sell it but not so set on making sure it works properly.

Avoid like the plague!

But the Walnut one that's up on eBay, that's different, it looks in fantastic condition, just a bit pricey at £850...

I don't know the various Aria models, but surely this is a bargain! Fretless bass somewhere in the Aria Pro II bass family, with hard case, for £250!!!!

Surely someone wants that!?!?!

SB-600 or 700. New knobs, replacement bridge & pickup for some odd reason. Very good BIN price - That won't hang around long!

I've held back from making my standard silly bid. As if I bid, that clears the BIN doesn't it? I think there was a Spector bass on for £99 BIN, but someone bid on it, clearing the BIN. Or, am I confused.

I caught myself wondering how much it would cost to have frets put on it :)

Westone Steinberger copy-ish. The end of the neck where the headstock would normally be looks a bit beat up. Is this a problem?

Edit: Dodgy repaint job as well. Could be a bargain for someone uninterested in the cosmetics?

Where is Jon?

Ahh! I wanted one of those so much when I was a kid.... I'd completely forgotten about them! Can't be bad for £1.25!

I'm sure you could get that black paint off and restore it quite easily.

Nice looking Gherson Les Paul copy. Somebody seems to be pushing the bidding up in £20 increments, though. There's suggestions these were made in Japan, but fetishguitars says they were one of the few companies that kept production in Italy. So more sh*te-eye than Japcrap.

I quite like the body of this bass. And I'd like the headstock on a Jackson or something. But IMHO the two just don't go together.

It's gone up quite a bit now, but another one has been listed. And there's someone selling a Westone Rail over in the basses for sale forum.

I was thinking very, very, seriously about this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Westone-Thunder-1A-b...=item2a05692223

I'd already checked where the seller's house was in relation to the 127 bus stop. But I won't be bidding now I have my Rickenfaker. Though, I'm a bit worried about the bid I still have outstanding on another Westone. It is quite low though, so I don't think I have anything to worry about. I.e. if I win I can probably sell it on for a profit :)
