Nice. I really like Business Step.

Do you put the bass through the Nord?
Thanks! :) The audio signal does go through the nord but its generally just low passed and sometimes might have a lfo on the volume that syncs up with the lfo on the filter of the high end. The high end is generated from midi signals created from the bass if you follow me..

So the bass goes throught the nord in 2 ways, audio and midi....

Ok, whats the easiest way to send a midi clock signal into my BEF pro, in a way that can be used live and without a laptop, preferably cheap. Also one that would let me send a click to the drummer and to the maybe one other instrument.

midi drum machine. i use an Alesis sr-16, which you can pick up for around £50.

Looks like it would be handy bit of kit all around. Is it as simple as just taking a midi cable from the out of the alesis and putting it in the BEF.

Also just after a quick look, would i be able to send a midi click to a synth or someones laptop? Im not great with these kind of things.

yes on both counts. you just set the click to output to midi (make sure you get one with a manual, as the menu is extensive)

as for linking to a laptop, i'd output the click from the laptop into the sr-16, and out to the BEF.

it has midi in and out/thru, and stereo jack outputs and headphone jack, so should cover everything.

there are easier drum machines to program (the editting is by step, rather than diagram), but for the money, it's worth a look.

My favorite one so far. :D Karizma is really ripping it up on this one..
Thanks dude - a little more of a funky breakbeat vibe than D&B in that one, though I love the super high ear splitting synth middle-8 bit :)

Karizma is a beast.. Everything freestyled. He won't rehearse with anyone! Lol,

Thought I'd share a few snippets from a recent recording session we did for some soundtrack-based stuff. The full versions of these song may never get released, but I wanted to share a few bits. More of a breakbeat/ambient vibe.

These are not final mixes so please excuse any imbalances or lacking frequencies etc...

These were all recorded in totally live takes with just the two of us (me and a drummer) so everything you hear that is not a drum is me playing, modulating & tweaking stuff live...

Loving the amount of sounds you're getting there. Huge soundscapes!

I love the feel on the first sample. First two are around the same song idea?

It's great how far your music has come, definitely much more polished and developed than when you first started.
They are all around the same piece of music actually. It's a 3-part movement in ambient D&B - The whole piece was about 20 minutes. 3 moods to the same 'idea' to represent 3 sections of a film etc...

The final finished pieces may be being used for some soundtracks... otherwise they will be polished & used on the next EP/Single.

Thanks for the compliments guys... These were done in a different manner to who we usually record. basically done as if it was a gig, facing each other performing single takes. I'm very happy with the results so far. It was also an experiment to see how 'full' I can make the sound without any sound-on-sound looping or it becoming a total uncontrollable mess.

The bass sounds pretty massive through my WOWee One powered bass speaker thing. Sample 2 sounds mint, sureingly WMD in action?

Now I'm wishing I would have nabbed that Freqbox when I had the chance. A couple of years ago a local shop was selling a brand new one, in the box for £165!

You may slap me now! :modspank:

Video from last Friday's show...

The place was so packed that people were outside watching through the window!

We announced to the place that it was an 'open mic' and so the crowd of people in front of the stage basically passed a pair of mic's around and freestlyed. Thankfully we had some seriously local HipHip royalty in the house (Duke01, Jaws & Young Chris from Great Scott, Bru-C, MotorMouf… plus a dozen odd guys we had never met!). There are a few of these vid's to come...

And the rest of the vids from the night (use good speaker/headphones - it's a tad too low for most laptop speakers!)...
