FT : Signature assembled jazz bass

I'd fancy to try something new, and I 've decided to offer my assembled jazz bass for a Trade (also with cash from me to you).
I'm very openminded and willing to try,so don't be afraid to make any kind of offer (also where a lot of cash from my parts is needed)

The body has unknown US ebay origins. I took it immediatly when I saw its gorgeous grain. It is made of heavy US ash (not EU swamp ash) and it is really beautiful. Not sure about that, but it looks like it is only 1 piece (I cannot guarantee about that, but I can make tons of pictures if you want me to)
Before you ask, the body has the neck pick up hole slighty bigger than the pick up, thus it doesn't look good without pickguard a la Jaco.

The neck is made by Signature. Signature was a law-suit Fender jazz copies producer(lawyered y Fender). After having bought a fantastic Signature jazz bass(it outgunned my US Fenders for sound and playability) I bought a neck of this brand to complete my assembled jazz. You can read about Signature here: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...ure/J-Bass/10/1

The tuners are made by Signature as well.

The bridge is Gotoh (the heavier one between the 2 Gotoh Fender replacements)

Pick up are Fender Custom Shop '60, whose I still have the box.
The capacitor is Hovland 0.47 (it seems an irrelevant detail, but it is not, Hovland capacitors are superb)
The pots are 3 250k log Alpha

The bad thing is that I leaved London and went to Parma for a MA, thus you can't try it. However,I am a trustworthy guy, I have good feedbacks and 2-3 of you met me face to face, so if I tell you this bass sounds great you can believe me. Fellow bassists who tried preferred it to US Fender jazzes because it cuts the mix better and it is a bit more modern and punchy and with more high end.(I think that's due to the heavy ash instead of swamp ash or alder we find on Fender)

I tried to make a video, but my Nikon l19 can't hold the bass frequencies and it goes banana. Anyway, here you have the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HefsRF0t39w the 2 picks up fully open and the tone fully open. The sound sucks in this video =(
How much?

It may also interest you to know that Alex Lifeson used to play Signature guitars back in the late 1980's (when his tone was at it's best). They also made Geddy Lee a jazz bass that he never used on record or live.
Different company, apparently. There's a thread about it on TB somewhere...

Hi guys, I've been reading the TB thread for more than 1 hour, and now I'm feeling dazzed and confused, and bad!
This because my main bass is a FULL Signature!!! So have I been conned?? well...I don't know,US guys say I have, but my Signature is better than my fenders, for looking, playabilty, and also sound in my taste.

http://www.myspace.com/duckbass

the first two songs were recorded with the Sig. bass (the white one) without post recording mods

I've posted my 2 cents on TB http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.p...d=1#post8463321

As a number of people said on the TB thread, if you've got a bass that works for you, how much does it matter who made it? I bought a jazz body off him a couple of years ago. There were a couple of minor issues with it - the pickguard wasn't cut right round the neck pocket and the neck bolt holes weren't central in the pocket - but I fixed it up with an AllParts neck and it looked good and sounded good. I really liked the pickups.

I did suspect, however, that his story didn't stack up, as there was absolutely nothing about that Signature on the net that doesn't trace back to Lamberts. So I emailed the chamber of commerce in Cranston RI, where he says Signature was based, and asked if they had any record of a company from the 1990s with that name. They hadn't, which doesn't prove it didn't exist, but it adds to the circumstantial case against him. Certainly Signature from Cranston RI had nothing to do with Signature in Canada.

yes guys it is only for trade, I tought "FT" was the way to say that here on basschat =D

spinynorman, yes you've right, my Signature bass was and is just perfect to me, Furthermore I was thinking to buy a Signature neck from an Italian guy who sells its one. It has a full Signature jazz, and it hasn't got issues. The neck is the binded wih blocks one, and it looks gorgeous.

In the next days I'll look for the pictures of the Signature jazz basses from 2 italian fellow bassists, and I'll post some video where there are my two Signature in action.

Cheers!

I made a new video of the bass:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpvVWSVWR4Y

I put the volume at the minimum. I loosed a bit of dynamics, but at least I allowed the Nikon to record without distorsions on bass freqs.
PS the strings are cheap and old
