I loved my White Epi TB, cracking basses, and I was fond of my 78 P bass too, should've kept that one. How do the Dirnt and Hoppus compare? I've had my eye on both in the past. The Epi, I´m not 100% crazy about. It looks the business, but I preferred the Tokai I sold a few months back tbh.Sounds a bit lightweight-though that is against my GIbson. Still, it looks amazing! i got the Dirnt as a present from some old bandmates the week they were launched and used it as my main bass for about 2 years or so, with my standard jazz playing second fiddle. it was my first ever precision and I loved the sound.Plus they look great if your band is playing any 50´s type rock or blues.I had been lusting after a pink hoppus since I picked up bass and when I got one for 250euro from a mate who was leaving Ireland... I LOVE the Hoppus, so much so that I modded the pups on the Dirnt to match! The Dirnt is quite heavy but has a lovely resonance and great neck profile. The Hoppus would be my fav of the 2, its lighter and has a ery simple setup (one knob) and an unbelievable growl and snap (and its pink!) The Dinrt, I like, but dont use it as much anymore tbh. check out my above reply. My advice is check one out in Dawsons or somewhere (dunno much about UK music stores outside of Manchester or Liverpool!) They are great basses and if you get to run one through an SVT, you will be very happy indeed! Scouts honour and all that! No, I bought it a few years back cause my kid sis plays too and she wanted to borrow one. She wasn´t getting on with her Squier Jazz cause her hands are too small. I also fancied a shortscale cause I didnt have one , So I bought one and leant it to her to record with her band. She has since moved back to the guitar, so in its lovely original 60´s case (got it for free) it sleeps, though I do use it from time to time (headphones, bedroom type situations) It does have a lovely warm tone, just a bit weak when cranked up full. The TBird I got for the same reasons almost I didn´t have any 5 strings so decided if I was going to break 2 taboos, (Must be 4 strings, must be Fender) then Id do so with one bass!hehe Gibson for a Fender-head, the shame! Honestly though, it is a fantastic bass! Switched the tuning so its eadgc as I find low B too heavy metal (I know, I know) and it sounds incredible. pups are mega-high outputs! Had to drink plenty of milk on account of the bone rattlin´! No neck dive either! amazing for a Thunderbird! Neck is very thin and fast too. Looks ace.[/quote] Fantastic bass! bit of a Ronseal thing- does exactly what it says on the tin! Weighs very little-just under 7 pounds I think. Has a Dtuner key fitted which is pretty handy. Recorded with it last year and VERY happy with the results. One of the guys at the studio wanted to buy it off me after we´d finished the first day of drum and bass tracks, but I was having none of it! Very versatile bass and perfect for long gigs! Coulda killed ben for that, but 250 euro! forget it! Yeah The P-Lyte is black or really kinda dark green with goldflake in it. Very strange colour, but love it!
