I suppose they're seeing everyone grabbing at Laklands and other trad-styled basses, and thinking "Hold on, this was Leo's!". Do quite like the look of that carved top Tribby though, I must admit. L-2000 / L-2500 are the best G&L made.[/quote] Couldn't agree more - I always liked the 2000/2500 series, they seemed to beat a new path beyond the Fender / MusicMan DNA, but indeed, not ANOTHER Jazz bass. I guess everyone's cashing on 'the worlds most popular bass guitar' at the moment but I'm a bit disappointed G&L are jumping on the bandwagon. Tait Posted July 2, 2009 Share Posted July 2, 2009 none are as nice as a good ASAT, or a natural L2000. i understand them bringing out a jazz copy, they sell great and the jazz was leo fender's invention, but i don't like it, its too predictable and boring, everyone does them. i've always had G&L GAS though, there are 3 basses that i think i'll always GAS for. A burns bison in black, a fender mark hoppus in white, and a G&L L2000 in natural. my favourite of the lot is the reliced L2000, but i'd prefer a none reliced one. I prefer the L2000 and L2500. This JB looks terrific too though, and they offer it lefthanded too I believe, with a lot more options on it than Fender offers on lefthanded models (which are only available with a rosewood board in either black with a white pickguard or 3-tone sunburst with a tortoise pickguard nowadays). And the G&L is in the same financial ballpark as a Fender American Standard Jazz. As a lefty, I'd choose the G&L over an American Standard Jazz anytime! I had a Korean natural ash L2000 and it played brilliantly. my only personal niggles are the tuners could be a little better (though they're fine) and I dont like the way the back of the neck resolves into the heel area or the headstock. it looks a little rushed but again very minor.Looks,tone and playability were all spot on.
