Yesterday I broke my left collarbone. I'm having surgery in a few days and would like to start playing again as soon as it's possible, but the bone itself might still be fragile for a while. So I was thinking to carry my bass on my right shoulder. Is there such a contraption, preferably one that is available in Europe? I found the Sling Strap which looks great but has to be imported from the States. Does anyone here have other tips?

Yeah that's what I'm also considering but playing a set of Green Day covers on a bar stool... Meh.

What would Green Day do?

I reckon they'd do what Dave Grohl, Solomon Burke and Ozzy did when illness and injury happened. . . . they did the gig sitting down. If the bar stool is the wrong image, get one of those outsized thrones and plonk it in the middle of the stage.

The show must go on!!

I don't remember the names but several RH players have had the strap on their right shoulder. Try it!

Likewise I can't recall any bass players off the top of my head, but Tony McPhee played guitar like that.

Albert Collins was another guitarist favouring the ‘wrong’ shoulder.

Freddie King also.

I wonder of the acoustic 'lace through the head' might be enough of if it would just fall off.

That said, I think that Green Day would have managed it with some white powder as it's a great pain killer, but maybe it's not a good idea... 😉🤔🤪
