Musicman Sterling USA 1994 Honeyburst with string mutes + original case - *SOLD* £1400 Blyth

Excellent condition for a 30 year old bass, with no issues.  Classic Musicman Stingray style bridge with mutes.  One of those basses that is so good that I've owned it twice!  Only point of note is the 2 small holes in the pickguard where someone mounted a thumb-rest.  Weight is 9lb (exactly) or 4.1kg.  The neck is less wide and less 'full' than a Stingray neck and is often compared more to a Jazz profile than say a Precision.  This is the earliest version with the metal battery compartment cover.

Trades - 34" Sandberg... possibly.

I think I’m GAS free as for a long time I wanted this exact spec Sterling. Beautiful bass and these earlier ones with the recessed plate and bridge mutes are particularly lovely.

I was convinced that I had to have this bass back (I sold it 10 years ago) and that it'd do a different job to my 88 Sabre but tbh they are in the same ball park for tone so I don't need both... maybe sell my Sabre if this doesn't sell.

You get to a certain age where you have to rationalise just how many of 'any' bass you can have!

I have a sterling, it plays amazing but it’s on the heavy side!

A lighter sterling would be a nice addition!

So you buy the lightest Sterling around (I'll photograph this on the scales) and you sell a heavier one... problem solved!

I can’t sell the heavy one, it might be a beast but it’s been with me for ages

i stripped it in lockdown and sprayed it sonic blue (nitro)

it’s a 6’ bass!

looks great at 6’ but any closer it’s shit, but plays so well

I think that Sabre used to belong to the bass player out of the 80s band B-Movie. It was pictured on the FB MusicMan Sabre Appreciation page a few years back and then traded against a pre EB Sabre iirc. Its a beautiful looking Sabre. Sterling no too shabby either!! Love the burst on both of them 😍😍
