police squad Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I mt up with a fellow bassist the other day, I bought a Rick higain pickup from him. On my clank journey he was telling me about his Ricks and amps He played me a clip on something he was working on, plugged into a V4B. It sounded amazing Who has experience of both of these amps please, I feel it should be the Ampeg all the way For my tribute gigs when I'm not supplying PA and lights, I would consider one of these amps your thoughts my learned friends Quote
Beedster Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Ampeg is always a safe bet for definitive rock tones, the great thing about the V4B is that you can wind up the power tubes at decent stage volume in a small venue. Lovely amp Quote

BassmanPaul Posted 49 minutes ago Posted 49 minutes ago (edited) I don't know what the tube complement of the Ashdown but the 7027 tubes used in the V4B are very very expensive. up to a thousand bucks for a set of four from Fliptops. They mention the British KT88 are an alternative. Edited 48 minutes ago by BassmanPaul Quote

Reggaebass Posted 17 minutes ago Posted 17 minutes ago The V4B is my main amp, just my opinion here is that it sounds amazing, and the eq is very versatile, it has got a lot of mid and high if you want but it also does my reggae and dub lows very well too, and I’ve never had any issues with it, I’ve had lots of amps and still got quite a few ,but this is my favourite 1 Quote
