@Raslee and @RaNoFuNkY mentioned they would be interested in a narrow SR4 neck with a 38mm nut (and there are some wooden necked versions out there in the wild.)  As I've mentioned in the other threads, I can only work in batches of 5 right now to keep the price and delivery times reasonable.  So if you would be interested in a narrow SR4 neck, let me know below.

Scale Length: 34"

Neck Profile Shape: C

Frets: 21 Jumbo frets

Material:  Graphite composite (monocoque construction)

Finish: Matt polyurethane

Frets: Stainless steel (levelled and crowned) - lined and unlined fretless is available FOC for the first five orders.  After this it will be a £30 upcharge

Fretboard Radius: 7.25" (preEB spec)

Fingerboard: PEEK (high performance, durable composite matrix), 9.5" radius

Inlays: Dots, mother of pearl or luminay, MOP blocks available for a £30 upcharge

Nut: Graphtec TUSQ 38mm wide

Heel Width: 63.5mm (2.5")

Heel Shape: Rounded

Tuning Peg Holes:

17.46mm (11/16") bushing-hole diameter (TBC)

14.28mm (9/16") post-hole diameter (TBC)

Truss Rod : Dual action, headstock adjustment

Neck Thickness:

19.4mm at first fret

23mm at twelfth fret

Necks come with:
PEEK fingerboard with MOP side dots, Luminay side dots are available for £10 upcharge.  Rosewood, ebony and wenge fingerboards are available for a £75 upcharge.

Fingerboard inlays: MOP or abalone dots are standard, MOP blocks are a £30 upcharge.  Abalone blocks are also available but slightly smaller than jazz blocks.  Other options - please talk to me.
TUSQ nuts installed but not slotted (slotting requires a string gauge to be assumed)
21 stainless steel frets (levelled to a straight neck)
Double action truss rods (heel capstan wheel style adjustment)

M4x40 neck bolts and inserts will be supplied.  (NB the necks don't come pre-drilled because neck bolt locations vary from bass to bass, the inserts must be used)
Tuner holes are drilled ( TBC) but screw holes for tuners are not (again, because different tuner designs have different hole locations)

NB: Dimensions are consistent with preEB SR4 21 fret necks but are not Ernie Ball Music Man licensed products or in anyway associated with Ernie Ball Inc. obviously. There may be fractions of a millimetre difference due to manufacturing tolerances, we recommend having an experienced luthier fit the neck for the best possible fit. All rights to trademarks belong to their respective owners etc.  Specifications subject to change without notice due to continual, ongoing improvements.

Sorry for the late reply Mat, it's 7.25" but if that changes for any reason, I'll post it on here.  9.5" is a typical Fender radius.

Why does a graphite neck need a truss rod please? I thought it would be rigid enough without one, like the  pre EB Musicman Cutlass 1 basses?

If you have ever owned a MM Cutlass bass, you will understand intimately why graphite necks can benefit from truss rods.  There is also the matter of player set up preferences.  Some players like a bit of fight in their instruments and a rounder tone, all of which can be provided by higher action.

@Kiwi, as you know I am keen for one of these and would quite like the mop inlays too. Are you looking for deposits? If so can you fire me your details - thanks buddy.

@Kiwi What's the headstock shape, standard MM style?

Also curious as to whether the neck length, size of the heel, etc would be compatible with a Sire Z3...

Yes it's a standard MM shape.   If you have measurements from the neck heel of your Sire, I can let you know about fit.

Thanks to @Raslee for securg the first slot.

I don’t have a Z3 (yet) - was thinking of picking one up as a modding project, specifically to put one of these necks on! :D

It's a great idea, I'm not personally keen on the lower horn shape but they do sound fantastic.  If you can get hold of some measurements for me, I'll definitely be able to provide you with an answer.

Can it be made for the 3 bolt design of the older MMs  ?

My understanding is that you can attach as many bolts/inserts as you like. They are not pre-drilled.

Hi there !

Would be super interested for my 79'sabre ( also 38mm nut width !)

Pre EB SR4 necks can fit preEB Sabre basses.  So I expect the same will be possible for the graphite composite SR4 necks.
