Hellzero Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Here are the very useful Neutrik Speakon/Jack combo sockets: https://www.thomann.co.uk/neutrik_nlj2mdxx_v.htm Quote

You are wecome to it, if you wish. Free, gratis and for nothing, as my late father would have said. 1 Quote
Steve Browning Posted May 28 Posted May 28 It says it's a serialiser on the case. Does that make it unsuitable? It may make two 8 ohm cabs = 16 ohms (or am I wrong)? Quote

It will make 2 x 8-ohm cabs look like 16-ohms and because it’s a valve head you will get full output into the 16-ohms. Quote

I'm guessing that's inadvisable with two different cabs as per the above post, the cabs in question are both 8 ohm, one a 15" only, the other a 10" and two 6"s? Quote

If you get it from Steve and send it to me I could rewire it to parallel. FOC of course. Edited May 28 by obbm 1 Quote

nekomatic Posted May 29 Posted May 29 22 hours ago, Beedster said: Thanks, not doubting your word but I'd be interesting in understanding why? As @itu says, the impedance of each cab is highly dependent on frequency so both the distribution of power and the total output of both cabs will vary in ways that are hard to predict. For example at one cab’s resonance frequency it will have a high impedance, so the other cab will output hardly anything at that frequency. 1 1 Quote

agedhorse Posted May 31 Posted May 31 (edited) Why not a simple splitter Y cable? Edited May 31 by agedhorse Quote

Beedster Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago With thanks to Steve @Steve Browning for donating the box and Dave @obbm for modifying it this is now solved, I've just run it at low volume at home and it works just fine, looking forward to running it slightly louder tomorrow in the big room 👍 3 1 Quote
