Oh, by the way, the less stupid scammer will always run his scams on days when people have loads of money, i.e., payday, so always beware of bargain basses on the last day of the month in a private one day auction from a new member with networked feedback who plays several instruments but has given them all up on the same day and likes his payments done by direct transfer or cheque :)
Now that should be a sticky!

I had a quick squizz at it all and couldn't see the problem, but as you say, it all adds up.

When are you changing your user-name to 'Colombo'?
So, are eBay actually going to do anything about it, or are they just going to sit back and take the commission.....(I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this already....)

In their defence, they can't be expected to police this. The cost is huge and the listing costs to members would soar. I reported it and they might do something, but the likely scenario is that he'll make a few quid and get away with it

You guessed it. If the guy sells £10k worth of stuff (which he'll do easily and then some) eBay will still collect £350 in final value fees; added to which he had to list all of that stuff!

Hmmm now let me see! eBay are not responsible for you being scammed (at least until someone can bring a landmark case) and are entitled to keep all of the fees that they cream off ANY scammer operating on eBay... do you seriously think they'll rush to close anybody down?

Hmmm, was having a think about it, and guessing that they (eBay) come up double trumps as there's no PayPal involved (as per seller's demands), so they don't have to deal out any real compensation. What are they giving out these days to the ripped off, I'm guessing it's not got any better since I last looked a few years ago (something like £10 per £100 if memory serves?).

Flip side is that it would be alomost impossible to reliably police. They would need experts in every possibly category - I can spot a dodgy bass but would have no chance with a dodgy camera (or a dodgy woman as most of my mates will confirm). Yes, the networked feedback is a strong clue, but not conclusive without other clues.
Having said that, you're both right, it's not intheir interests to police it anyway is it. Even if it were financially viable, they probably wouldn't :)

Dammit Dammit Dammit!

There's me thinking I'm smart, and all ready to post what I've found on Basschat, and Beedster's beaten me to it and done it more comprehensively and elegantly, too.

Good spot, sir.

Marshalmacdonald never replied to my query about cash on collection, either.

Is it worth adding all his 'networked' IDs to the Confirmed Scammers sticky?

He has all these items advertised on gumtree. they are in a shop in Fulham i think. the Gibson bass is going for £950. so i can't see it going for anything less. He also wants £1400 for the Fender 75/76 , and £1900 for the natural Jazz, maybe he's just testing the waters on ebay. i think it's def the same person.

His feedback now contains
everthing for sale is a con he is getting them off www.gumtree.com don't bid
to which he has replied
we did previously advertise on gumtree without success of sales, what wrong????
Methinks a further whiff of horse, and yet still they bid. Ah well
I thought I might hang around to put some last minute bids on these basses he has for sale - just to see you understand.
Funnily enough that crossed my mind too. Someone obviously tried looking at the latest feedback
I think we should take it upon ourselves to contact the eventual "winners" and warn them of our suspicions - don't you think?????
- trouble is they were private bidder auctions so I do not think there is any way to find out who "won" in the end

No surprise that the tw cars he "sold" & got positive feedback for at the top of his feedback list are also on Gumtree

Nissan Micra 1.2 Sx - eBay - Gumtree

So is it Lorena, Stephane, Gerry, George, Gustavo, Charlie......................

I'm just waiting for my TE 122H to show up It'll be interesting to see what that makes :)

Yep, he just copied my listing and pictures for my WT550B either from gumtree or from the "amps for sale" section in this forum, word by word...

I reported him on eBay, but they did nothing about it...

What's going on with his feedback now? I checked earlier and he had two negatives; someone has now added a third negative but one of the earlier ones has disappeared ... but no feedback has been removed by mutual consent!

And why is there no description of the goods for the deals with negative feedback?
He is now "Not a registerd user" so hopefully eBay got on the case - well we could all hope so at least
See if his other accounts close as well! If not one of those becomes the next #1 account. If people can be bothered to track scroats like him and report him then all good and well at least it makes the individual feel better thinking they've tried to do their bit.
