shoulderpet Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Hi Just wanted to know if stacking 2 of the same chorus pedal with the same settings on each will give a more intense effect than just using the one pedal ? Thanks Quote
Gank Bass Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Depends on the chorus pedal itself, blend options etc! You might be interested in the boss dimension c (or tc electronic dimension chorus), they add in different layers of chorus. Great for guitar but the lack of blend really sucks the low end out for bass in my experienceĀ Ā Hope this helps! Quote
LukeFRC Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I just stuck 8 chorus in a row on my hx stomp- obviously the LFO will be synchronised as itās one unit.Ā Ā it didnāt sound great 1 Quote

Thanks Ā This is a very interesting question and something I was thinking about in relation to preamp pedals. Ā Would a signal from a preamp going into the same preamp create a better sound than just the one. Ā So same question, is there an accumulative effect that makes for a better sound? Quote

Ā So same question, is there an accumulative effect that makes for a better sound? errrm - I think you need to split it down into roughly what things are doing to the sound to understand them. So a chorus has a few variations of how they work but basic is modulating the sound with a delay line, and a LFO effecting time and then mixing it 50/50 with clean.Ā So if you have two a lot of it will depend on the LFO - my messing around in stacking them on a HX stomp the LFO timing is the same - so it increases the effect - but also each one effects an effected tone and it looses the cleans. So if the OP wanted more chorus what are they actually wanting? A bigger amplitude of change of delay time? a fatter sound? A different wave form on the LFO?Ā One nice thing is splitting by frequency and leaving the bottom end uneffected - which to my ears makes it sound more. If you were recreating the A preamp it would be different. It's got a level of EQ, saturation and compression - which might change depending on the level of the signal - or it might saturate and compress differently at different frequencies - so it depends what you like that was "better" that you like- that might be improved by doubling it Ā 2 Quote
shoulderpet Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 Ok so I tried it, fortunately my chorus pedal is a cheapy so I was able to try it out with minimal cost involved. Ā I like it, stacked 2 pedals, similar sound to one on its own but a more intense effect. Quote

Thanks Yes, if you use the right settings, just use your ears. Ā Probably will easily get mushy and thin, but if you like what you achieve then that is all that really matters. Ā Just do it! Quote
shoulderpet Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 Thanks for the replies, I thought 2 chorus pedals was good, tried an overdrive in front of the chorus pedals, wow!!!! What a great sound!!! 1 Quote
FugaziBomb Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Here's a recording where I used parallel chorus pedals.Ā I re-amped the original bass track twice - once through Bass Clone set to a slow speed chorus, then another track through a DigiTech Whammy for the octave up affect and then into the same Bass Clone chorus set with a higher speed.Ā Both the re-amped tracks are high passed, as I just left it to the DI track handle the lows. I sometimes throw in a MXR Flanger as well for a laugh.Ā Quote

I love Joy Division and I love Peter Hook's bass tone so have been considering getting a clone theory. Quote
2elliot Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I started with an original, early one, it sounded great but did make a noise when switching in and out. I now use the Clone Theory on a Zoom MS60B... Ā Ā Old photo, the pedal board is a lot tidier than that now... Quote
