Didn’t take long for my hands to adjust on the fanned frets Every time I see a white one I start to question my choice of vintage sunburst... but I'm not cracking... just yet! 1 Quote
EmmettC Posted yesterday at 11:11 Posted yesterday at 11:11 I had a bass made for me a few years ago (still my main bass), but apart from that, I've never bought a new instrument - but this one ticks a lot of boxes for me. I won't get a chance to try one, unless Guitar Guitar decide to stock them in Edinburgh, but even then, I'd prefer to buy from Bass Direct. So thinking sensibly, how has the weight been on the ones people have tried or bought? Would it benefit from a preamp or is it versatile enough as-is? What colour is the best, I don't really like the sunburst, but the rest are all lovely. Quote

Mine weighs at around 3.9kgs, I took it to a wedding gig in Grantham this weekend and survived a 30 song setlist with no shoulder pain. I've mostly used the P or the J tone only which covered most of my needs. I love the feel of the neck of this thing, rounded on the edges, not too chunky not too thin. It feels like a D but I'm not very particular whatever shape it is as long as it feels good when I hold and move my hand around the neck I'm good. It was comfortable on that 2 sets we played. I tend to roll off the tone knob a tad, it's the sweet spot for me. I bought the instrument from BassDirect without having tried any Dingwalls at all! Sure it is expensive as some people say for an Indonesian made instrument, but I've no regrets. I also like what they did to the pickguard holes on the knob and jack. Just remove the screws and no need to remove any washers on the knob and jack in case you need to remove the pickguard. If anything, I raised the action slightly higher as it was too low for my taste. Now, I'm just looking forward to put more miles on this instrument! Also not a fan of sunbursts. The green one looks good too! If it came with a tort pickguard I might have considered it! All I can say is, do it! haha Chad Edited yesterday at 15:26 by Chadu25 3 Quote
MichaelDean Posted yesterday at 16:46 Posted yesterday at 16:46 (edited) Ooof, Dingwall have pictures of the green now. That'd be my pick. Edited yesterday at 16:46 by MichaelDean Stupid autocorrect... 2 Quote

I think the green is going to be the one. 2 Quote
wintoid Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Does this model have the same weird tone control setup that the Canadian Super P has? I had to replace the circuit on mine as I couldn't get on with it. Quote

krispn Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago On the original SuperP a ‘new circuit was employed. It had mid point detent which was wide open at the mid point. Turning the tone control back worked like a tone roll off- standard. Rolling it forward introduced a ‘mid scoop’ but it wasn’t really that practical. 1 Quote

For the life of me, I could never understand why they did that. I hated the tones from the "scooped" section of the travel, and there wasn't enough control in the regular tone section. Replaced it with a wonderful Stellartone Tonestyler, and never looked back, ably fitted for me by Feline Guitars for a tenner. Just curiosity really, I'm more of a P than a PJ-er. Quote

My tone control functions like a normal Pbass would Quote
