Well didn’t expect that 👇 this morning from #1 son….only thing it doesn’t fit in the cavity 🤬 it’s only 25mm wide where the pots including an earth wire soldered onto the pot side is 27 mm o/a. I know I could fit mini pots but as it being a gift I want to use it. I don’t have any wood working tools bar a drill so I’m thinking of using round flapper wheels obviously the body will be covered & a run off plate stuck onto the side I’m working on at a time, (just in case the drill slips) the flappers should do the trick

Flappers doing the trick in opening up the route 👇 that’s roughly 20 minutes all in & still using the 1st flapper, plenty time tho. Don’t know why the route was only 25mm originally 🤔

Think the control plate would have to be a bit thicker maybe 4 or 5 Mr Plug….don’t mind knocking one up & taking it from there. Let’s see the rest of the bass 👆 with your cover on it please

Plate done, actually done two…one using a 4mm strip of pine & stuck the veneer on using an iron, the other some UHU glue onto the aluminium plate & clamped it up. Roasted a 10mm drill shank up and fired it thru the holes.

Perhaps there's a case for a slightly different shape. Rather than having parallel sides, have the sides curving out and back in, like a very elongated barrel. Subtle though, so the bottom line of the plate curves with the bottom line of the bass body.

Ok finally got round to fab up another control plate, tried to follow the body contours using some template paper but it really wasn’t getting there…..so I made another bell plate bought another small sheet of fleece backed veneer & et viola 👇. Got some 1/2” aluminium bar to make a tug bar as I don’t like the one that’s on the body just now. I’ve got the bridge on the body it’s a Hosco bbt using Fender threaded saddles….dunno what happened to the Hosco saddles must have used them I think. Next will be a neck from guitarbuild so feel free to chime in wether a rose wood or maple board….I’m not sure.

And stuck on 🙂….tug bar 🤮 I’ll have the aluminium version hopefully on by the weekend. I also took the sheen of the front & wiped on several coats of wax….it’s like Andrex toilet paper when I could afford to buy it it’s really smooth.

Pickups well according to Hosco the bbt has 20 mm spacing so I’ll probably go for closed covers or Nord’s blade type nowt worse than strings not aligned wi poles….that’s just me tho.
