Musicmans new Big Al

I remember all those ugly shapes they produced in the 60s, like Teisco and Harmony. Not to everybodys liking but at least not the copycat street most of the basscompanies a taking.
Same for EB Bongo and the AL. Only difference: the Bongo has a headstock that complements the bodyshape whereas
the AL with the stock (characteristic) EB headstock looks strange. A sharp contoured body with that rather nice rounded
headstock can't work out.
Soundwise this thing may develop over time, flexibility seems to be no problem.
Pricewise I think a lot of companies haven't heard the bang.
Anyway, good luck to EB with this bass.

I sort of like, i like the way it is damn easy to switch pickups, but how comfortable is the body while playing.

this video did catch my eye though. i didnt know you could buy HSS

£2k+ for that pig?? *falls about in uncontrollable mirth* Well they've got a sense of humour, I'll give 'em that much.
I never thought I'd ever see an uglier bass than the Bongo. Shocking.
Still, it's horses for course I guess.

You can't. That guy has just raised the hum cancelling dummy coil, which is not designed to work as a real pickup.

However, check out the new 25th anniversary bass - in HSS. Not a good thing for me, when I have that many options i'm forever twiddling and can never settle on a sound :)

ditto hence the reason i play a p bass with no controls. but i do dig the 2eq SR's and i love the al shape. it's time for mm to make the HB coil p bass selectable.

I sat for a good month doing nothing but twiddling with my Bongo, I know what you mean. But the tone. OMG

I quite like that actually. Waaay to many tonal options for me though.

Props to them for trying something new, they look to be expanding the line a fair bit.
