itu Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Is your series sound activated by pulling a pot? Is it really a series option, or bypassing the bridge capacitor? 1 Quote

Let's see some pix, please. Quote

Cosmo Valdemar Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Looks original, it's not uncommon for the lettering to wear off. I don't know if they used black plates on these particular models, but the rest - black hardwire and binding - checks out. 1 Quote

Thanks Cosmo for your thoughts , thatās what I want to confirm really to see if inscriptionĀ has simply worn away , if itās a transfer rather. Then like indentured serial numbers , as most show at least a bit of scribble left , not in this case and donāt look over clean , well I guess if I can find b t owner to confirm , seems they went to every effort to black off all hardware but not jack , maybe they just couldnāt get it on plate . Well thanks again much appreciated pjĀ Quote

NikNik Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 (edited) It does decode as July 1988. I'd wager this bass was pillar box red at one point. Interesting to see the 7-screw tailpiece.Ā Edited November 22, 2021 by NikNik Correction Quote
NikNik Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 (edited) It probably began life like this 1986 model. Note it also has the 7-screw bridge, which appeared for several years before Rickenbacker bowed to the cork-sniffing purists and reverted to the inferior 5-screw unit. I guess I should be happy its the real thing , but it makes complete sense as has some heavy grain in wood , which probably would be blotted out with colour etc , I suppose when sourced which ones gets painted etc to cover imperfections , itās great looker but not really my cup of tea bass playing wise although neck is so nice and sleek thx pjĀ Quote
