Hi everyone. Hoping someone can give me some advice.

Looking an Interface to record bass through GarageBand on my iPhone/ IPad over guitar parts received from a friend.

I was looking at the Focusrite Itrack Solo - is this suitable, or is there a better alternative around a similar price?

Thanks in advance for you input.

Wayne

Thanks. Are there any issues with latency? I think I read that somewhere previously, but then maybe it was the cheaper version.

I’ve used a few in the focusrite range, they are all good, the iTrack One Pre is very very cool, nowt wrong with an iRig HD either

Yes, I think I have narrowed it down to one of the following:

Focusrite Itrack Solo £109

iRig Pro I/O £111

Apogee Jam+ £149

I am just deciding whether to go with an IPad or MacBook from curry’s.

If you want to get into Logic Pro Macbook

If you want only GB - ipad - loads you can still do.

They are so powerful now that it’s practically a computer - also depends on personal computing needs and whether you should add a magic pad / keypad to it.

If you can get both - amazing as you can use your iPad as a control for logic on your MacBook and also have things like synth key apps to pop into logic

I’m not an expert, but I bought on iTrack Solo for my son. Works great on iPhone, and can also be used on a laptop. Sounds fine to me, good set of features for the money. Bear in mind if used with iPhone or iPad then it needs external power from a USB charger - it takes its power from the laptop though if you’re using it that way.

this has improved my recording life immeasurably...

Just a lovely item.

Although - thinking on, I wish I’d got one with an xlr  mic in for recording acoustic...this can be circumnavigated...

It is ace.

If you are spending £150 quid on an interface, you may as well get an HX Stomp which can act as the interface AND gives you loads of great sounds..... only another £300..... go on... treat yourself..... you know it makes sense !!!

Ha I wish! Thanks for the gentle persuasion though!
I think it’s either the Focusrite Itrack Solo or the Apogee Jam+.
The iRig 2 HD has some bad reviews regarding latency.

The jam+ can be left with latency (why you’d choose that...🤷🏻‍♂️)  or you can select zero latency.

makes life so easy.

I'm selling my Zoom R16 which has only been used for one evening at my home.  It's a compact digital recorder which can be used as a USB control surface for your favourite DAW or to record 8 tracks simultaneously.  I bought it for that latter feature as our band had done a few storming gigs and I wanted to try and get a live recording down.  Of course, the band imploded before I could do this and it has sat in its box ever since.
It comes with all manuals, leads, PSU etc that came with it along with a 2GB SD card and Cubase LE which I have not downloaded so can be yours.
These are £317 at Amazon & £329 at Thomann (with delivery on top).  Save yourself a bundle at £200 including postage to you or same with socially-distant collection from Croydon.

I bought this when I had a bit more in the way of MIDI hardware devices, but while I was doing a bit of cable-fettling I realised I now only had one old-school MIDI thing, and therefore this is now surplus to requirements.

It is a rock-solid interface as you would expect from MOTU, and has performed flawlessly while it has lived in my smoke-free home studio. (I can't claim to have a pet-free home, but the cat stays out of my studio because he doesn't like me, so I'm pretty sure he has never used it.)

The unit is easy to set up for PC or Mac, runs from USB power, and can be left to its own devices most of the time. The handy numbers on the front light up to tell you which INs and OUTs are active. There are 4 sets of MIDI sockets on the back for permanent use, and another pair on the front intended for temporary patching-in.

In excellent condition with the original box, manual, half-rack mounting kit, and unused 10ft USB cable. I will also include the installer CD, but tbh this might now be out-of-date, and any necessary software can be found here.

Yours for £85 including insured delivery to mainland UK.

On April 8, 1990, exactly thirty years ago, the first episode of Twin Peaks was aired, the legendary series by David Lynch that revolutionized television and the concept of television series itself. To pay homage to my favorite series, I decided to make this bass cover of the iconic theme played with a Tribe Spike. Happy listening to everyone!

To conclude the tests of this Harley Benton PB 20 satin black (although as soon as possible I will try to create a demo only bass and drums so as to provide an even more concrete idea of the sound), this time I chose a classic of the indie rock years 2000 of The Strokes played with the pick. From next week, however, a new series of bass covers will arrive with another "clone" Precision of a different price range but for now I won't say anything else! 😅
As always, I invite you to follow my channel for new updates and videos every week.
PS: what you hear is the natural sound of the bass without modifications or post production exactly as it leaves the factory!
