TheIrishOx
I dont know if its just me but lately I been dissappointed latley, i think i spelled dissappointed wrong  , cause I have been searching for a simple lightweight powerful bass head that has that no tweaking plug in play style to it. I don't know if I'm being too picky or too general, but can some one recommend me a bass head. Thanks :) Edited December 4, 2008 by TheIrishOx
~tl
It's not particularly lightweight – but you can't get much simpler than the new Hartke LH500/LH1000: http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...2&brandID=
Dubs
Shuttle 6.0? 600W @ 4ohms and 3.75lbs - just plug it in with everything set flat and it sounds great IME. No tweaking required The LMII is also worth looking at. Neither requires extensive tweaking. Dubs
There are other options like this - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=20284&hl= - Alien did an amazing job with this, but of course you would need a pre amp of some sort. bass_ferret
I have compiled a list of lightweight amps but it is over on finnbass.
chris_b
You can run a Markbass LM2 or Thunderfunk with the controls set flat and you get a great sound on every gig.
Bigwan
I'll probably get flamed for suggesting this, but I'm using an Ashdown ABM for my simple tone machine. It's lighter weight than some of the other suggestions here. Valve drive on 12 o'clock, pre-shape on, eq off. Only gain and volume to worry about then. As far as I'm concerned Ashdown would do well to release an amp with gain, valve/clean blend and volume AND NOTHING ELSE. There are thousands of guys looking for a simple bass amp - that could be just the tool and surely more useful to them than these mythical 'little giants' we keep hearing about... The most f***ing annoying thing is if that c*** Inzaghi didn’t get his last minute equaliser at FP then we’d be through. f***ing c***. Calamity James, unlucky, use your hands you twat. sh*t happens, but realistically we’ve just had our most successful 12 months within the last 50 years; not bad. I thought it would have been out-weighed by the hartke LH500 - but the LH500 is 10.5 kilos, the abm is 14... the wooden case probably adds about half of the difference. Strip out all the useless tosh and it's be even lighter! I feel a wee project coming on... Anyone got a spare ABM going cheap? I rarely use anything on my ABM but a bit of valve drive and it sounds great flat. Companies often don't seem to cotton on to what punters want without a hefty kick up the arse.
