Thunderpaws
Just spotted the Crayon overdrive pedals from EHX and see they have a bass knob, as well as Treble. Anyone used one of these with bass guitar yet and have an opinion?
danbowskill
I'm curious on this 1 as well
ratman
The Crayon and Colour Box both look like cracking pedals.

danbowskill
It sounds very mid based ,could imagine it cutting well in a punky/rock band. My only gripe with Exh pedals of this size is that I wished they placed the footswitch closer to the bottom of the enclosure,I have a bass soul food and I'm forever knocking the knobs . dannybuoy
The Crayon and Colour Box both look like cracking pedals.
The JHS Crayon is based on the JHS Colour Box but the EHX Crayon is totally different and just happens to share the name, just to confuse us all! Then to add to the confusion, EHX inexplicably offer it with two different graphics?! https://reverb.com/blog/introducing-the-jhs-the-crayon-dot-dot-dot-and-the-ehx-crayon Edited January 3, 2016 by dannybuoy
ratman
That'll teach me to pay better attention lol. It's the JHS pedals that I'd love to try.
dannybuoy
Sounds pretty good to me, EHX beats the JHS! http://youtu.be/1w9HURvm2ec Edited January 15, 2016 by dannybuoy
0175westwood29
Sounds pretty good to me, EHX beats the JHS! http://youtu.be/1w9HURvm2ec
The jhs sounds different tho not the standard drive! I'm thinking of getting this as the colour box is too expensive really for what I'd use Andy
ratman
I prefer the JHS, but the EHX will be worth trying at some point.
dudewheresmybass
The ehx definitely sounds way better than the jhs to my ears. The jhs has a definite fuzz flavour, where the ehx has more of an old school drive vibe going on.
ratman
The JHS Crayon is a stripped down version of the $400 Colour Box, which replicates the pre amp of an old Neve desk. As far as I can tell by trawling the online reviews, the EHX Crayon isn't a copy of that, it's an overdrive pedal. So I'm not sure they deserve to be compared just because they share a name. I suspect the EHX will attract lots more buyers as it doesn't seem like a bad pedal, and it's way cheaper than the JHS.
danbowskill
Someone buy the Exh and do a review/comparison against other drives........so I don't have to :-D
