Wasn't you, was it?

If so, I applaud you; if not, join me in crying bitterly.

Out of sheer brass neck-ness, I messaged the seller & asked how much it was sold for.

I wish I hadn't.

The bass, and the Strat copy for sale as well, were sold for fifty quid. For the pair.

 x 1000000.

J.
Nah not me ..
Oh well .. add that to the big plie of "bargains I didn't get" :)

Also crying. I was trying to persuade her to use senditnow.com for shipping, and would have paid £50 easily.
No :)

Cheque cleared Monday, was told she'd have it ready to go. If it doesn't arrive today I'll email her, although it's clear from her feedback that she's having a baby and I don't know how far along she is with that! ;) So I'm not pushing too hard, excuse the pun...
Yep, she's just given birth  Lol, will get the bass sometime next week, told them not to rush....

The other end of the scale - Ibby 2388b in Deutschland:

Still eye-wateringly expensive.

It's here!!!! It's teasing me at work as I can't play it.... but a two minute glance confirms it's definently cheap. Very similar to one of my columbus basses in the tuners/selector switch/strap button/jack socket choices, and the paint is peeling on the back of the headstock that wasn't visible in the pics. Will deconstruct and post proper pics later. The Rickenbacker TRC appears to just be a piece of paper with Rickenbacker printed on it behind a clear TRC, which is a slight shame, as I was going to flog it  But at least I can print my own brand name off and slide it underneath.....

That's good. Post some pics & we'll see if we can give a positive ID. The hardware sounds like it's the generic stuff you find on many Jap copies, it's generally functional enough.

Too bad about the trc - but it's a good opportunity for personalisation!
Not strictly ebay but I saw this picture on another forum.
A GREENBURST copy from the 70s
I need to change my underwear!

Vorg by Pearl, bolt-neck, built by Matsumoku - and owned by Laura, from down on the south coast. If she decides to sell, I get first refusal! :)

Btw this was never originally meant to be an Ebay - specific thread, really just a discussion of Fakers in all their gory glory. It didn't originate in the Ebay forum, back in the old Bassworld days, and I think it's limited by being here.
You're a lucky one.
I love Rickenfakers anyway but one in an alternative colour like that, yummy.
I'd love one in pinkburst
I don't think Laura' selling!

Pinkburst would be brilliant - but so far the best i can suggest is this:

The Fernandes Sw@nky Spider. I wanna go & live in Japan! :)

I am indeed. I'm a huge Manics fan hence the leopard print. I've also got a white Les Paul Custom (being primarily a guitarist).
That Italia is a nice solid bit of kit, lovely sound, comfortable to play and hold up nicely (some idiot splashed a pint over me when I was giging not long back and it was unphased)

Worth it for the parts - if it was local to me, I'd 'ave it. Not sure - but I think that might've been a neck-through Kasuga. Once upon a time. :)

Matsumoku bolt-neck - errr... neck:

Doubt it'll be there long.

Damn right it shouldn't be there long. I've no problem with people selling Rick copy stuff, but I've got a problem with people passing copy stuff off as the original.

Likewise - but he might just be ignorant. The listing's now saying he's been told it's from a 4080 twin-neck, which was bolt-on. It's a Mat/Aria neck, no doubt: the fretboard's too dark for a Rick, the truss adjusters are allen key barrels, not nuts, the inlays are too pearlised (Rick ones are usually poured, not cut from sheet), skunk stripe looks too wide. And so on.

Interesting he says the tuners "HAVE A STAMPED MARK ON THEM WITH USA ON IT" - if they're real Grovers, they'd definitely be worth a bob or ten, copy ones are completely blank. But I really, really doubt it. I've asked for clearer pics.

As for the other one - very poor pic, this is a butchered MIJ copy and I've never, ever seen pine used in the construction of a JapCrap guitar - and the through-neck construction here indicates this was a high-end copy. It's completely ravaged, though - the seller says the fingerboard's narrower than the neck. That's because the binding's been ripped off, as it has from the body - if it's a Kasuga, as I suspect, it would have had checkerboard. :) Anyhoo, I've messaged the guy to see if he'll post - £50 for good parts & firewood sounds OK to me...
