Funky Dunky
Sorry....I know these threads suck because everybody is looking for something different, but I'm looking for a combo amp which: 1. Does not weigh a ton (or tonne) 2. Has plenty of bottom end 3. Is giggable 4. Doesn't colour the tone of the bass too much. I don't need any features but if it has features, grand. New or used will be considered. I have a Sterling Sub Ray 4 and a Squier VM Precision PJ if that helps :-) Edit - I realise this is practically a repeat thread given the other one on the page about £450 combos. Sorry. Lozz196
Fender Rumble 500 if going for new.
Funky Dunky
What's the deal with these puppies, I hear them mentioned in the same breath as Genz Benz....something about circuitry is it?
Lozz196
Well Fender bought Genz Benz, suddenly GB amps are no more, and then just as suddenly the Rumble Series get a re-vamp. I think many see this as more than a coincidence.
basskit_case
Does the rumble 500 need the extra cab to put out the full 500w?
Lozz196
Yes, apparently puts out 350 watts at 8ohms without the ext cab connected.
ebenezer
A nice second hand markbass 2....plenty loud enough, good tone, in fact mine seems as loud as the genzbenz streamliner 900 I used to own.
leroydiamond
I purchased The cheap as chips Kustom KXB500 as a back up for my Puma 900 and Tone Hammer 500. Well the Kustom is now my go to amp. It is the best micro amp I have ever had. Highly recommended.
chrismuzz
Markbass 210 combos go on here between 500 and 600, couldn't recommend anything better!
Graham
Used Genz streamliner - go for about £350 - £400 for the 900 watt version Edit - forgot you didn't want too much colouration - the Streamliner may have to much for you. Funky Dunky
I like the Streamliner. Is that just for the head or will that get me a cab too??
Graham
That's just the head, I apologise, looks like I didn't read your original post very well...... There's always the 600 watt version which will be cheaper and leave you some cash for a cab. At your budget, a Markbass combo sounds ideal
Conan
Does it have to be a combo? Separates would give far more options (and there are a lot more of them about in the for sale section!).
