Lou Reed's real name is Jeremy Bean. He got the nick name 'Lou Reed' because he would often spend days on end reading back copies of 'Crochet Monthly' magazine on the toilet. The band name 'Velvet Underground' was inspired by the disappearance of his favourite brand of toilet paper after he flushed.

Following the release by Queen of "I Want to Break Free", blues-rockers Free were initially non-plussed and released "All Right Now". However after they split soon after they reformed as the Sex Pistols and reposted with the sardonic "God Save the Queen".

Archie Bell and the Drells' hit "Sugar Sugar" was inspired by watching box sets of The Apprentice. US Band NRBar-BQ were also inspired by Lord Sugar's catch phrase.

Redwedger Billy Bragg has been forced to apologise to Dorset village Little Midden (pop. 28) after he drove through there on Thursday last without cheerily waving to the population. He explained "Knew England" was a metaphor and he did not really know all the population of England.

Scottish sibling duo The Proclaimers have announced " Hear Ye, hear Ye, Hear Ye. Brian May auditioned for the spin-off band Jefferson Starship in 1974 but was turned down as he had not yet completed his PhD in astrophysics (which he attained at Imperial College in 2007).

The Doors did not, as popular anecdotes have incorrectly quoted, get their name from the book by Mr Huxley. Instead it was conjured up by their fuzzy haired guitar Robbie Krieger based on his previous 9-5 as a double glazing salesman and love of white PVC and hinged openings.

3'2" post punk pretty boy Adam Ant now lives in a nest with former band members near Hemel Hempstead. The worker Ants can often be seen carrying Adams supplies above their heads in single file. In times of hardship they have been spotted as far afield as Tring and Aylesbury.
