However, many guitar pedals are suitable for both types of instrument. The EBS Dynaverb, though, is a bass pedal. I've also looked at the Warmple Faux Spring, Mr Black Deluxe Plus, Mojo Hand fx Dewdrop and others, but it's difficult to review/compare them as some are not sampled on Youtbe. None are in my local music stores. There is very little comment on them here on Basschat. So, I wondered what Basschatters use/recommend. I know that this question is subjective, but as with other questions about equipment, something usually stands out from the crowd. You can download toneprints(TM) devised by famous players, or make your own using the free software, and beam them to the pedal via your smart phone held against one of your pickups. There are quite a few toneprints specifically for bass, including some by Gary Willis, Mark King, and Marlowe DK. I think there is one for sale in the BC Marketplace too. dannybuoy Posted March 28, 2014 Share Posted March 28, 2014 Shameless plug, but I'm selling an almost new Zoom MS-70CDR - it has tons of reverb/delay/modulation models, and a couple of the reverb models are able to filter out the lows from the wet signal to stop things getting muddy on bass! eloann Posted March 29, 2014 Share Posted March 29, 2014 If you told us what you'd do with a reverb pedal it would make it easier to give you relevant info. I'm extremely happy with my Strymon BlueSky for long, almost string-pad type sounds. It also works great for very subtle reverb thanx to the "bass filter" taking out lows of the tail - and I can switch between both with the favorite switch. Anything in between - I'm not interrested. Noisyjon Posted March 29, 2014 Share Posted March 29, 2014 It can be hard to get a reverb working well on a bass and the trick is to effect only the higher frequencies and leave the low frequencies alone as Dannybuoy hinted at with his experience with the Zoom MS-70CDR. Most of the stuff we do in the band is 60's covers, and in some of it bass is prominent. We're not trying to replicate exactly though, I want a range of sounds available which can be used depending on what we're doing. I thought spring reverb would fit in quite well. Loads of different modes, sounds great, and is readily available new or second hand at pretty decent prices. I sold one here, but only because I have an Eventide Space...
