Another blast from the past.

Anyone remember Camel and going to the Harrogate gig on the 19th of October ??

Only an incidental fan and not heard anything for years but my best mate is a big fan so we have tickets and looking forward to another trip back to the seventies.

Think we could be hearing some very accomplished musicians playing some pretty good stuff.

I've just done a feature on them for the next Record Collector issue - but unfortunatly will be out of the country when they tour. Boo!

PS There's a great 1 hour documentary on YouTube, Curriculum Vitae, filmed some years ago for Channel 4 if you look for it. Very much recommended.

I'm going to Wolverhampton on 20th and looking forward to it. One of those bands I never got round to seeing before and with Latimer's health issues it looked like I never would (apparently he's a lot better now) so when these gigs came up I jumped at the chance. It's also on a Sunday so a nice steady drive down and some pub grub en route will be great and the traffic will be very light for the journey home. Whole of Snow Goose album plus more in a 2 set show, excellent!

Strange , that I seemed to miss out/ ignore this band . I did get a 12. " single in the 80s( obviously cheap). One track was a instrumental . They were prog weren't they?

Yeah. Kind of proggy folky countryside type thing... :D

You're being a bit mischievous there Conan, Down on the farm is probably one of the least representative examples of what I'd call classic Camel. It was written by Richard Sinclair so (unsurprisingly) sounds just like Caravan. It's the material that Andy Latimer had a major input on that I'd cite as being more representative.

Good show in Wolverhampton last night, no set list spoilers but played for over 2 hours so decent value. Latimer looks to be genuinely touched by how the fans have hung in there while he couldn't tour and have come out in numbers for these 4 gigs.

I'd never seen them and reading about Latimer's health issues I'd come to the sad conclusion I never would so when these tour dates came up I got onto it as fast as I could. Still only got about 5 rows from the back but the sound was actually pretty good though the bass lacked definition (and it looked like a Wal too!) even the bass player had a moan about it at one point.
