I've just bought a usb input to record into my laptop, the disk it comes with it guitar rig 2, which allows me to playalong and just record my bass only, which is damned annoying!! Is there any programs/downloads which allow to record either double or mulitple tracks? I've also been asked to record my bass for an up and coming album, music panned on one side, music on the other so it can be sorted out in the processing stage.. It's a fully fledged DAW that's available as a free and unlimited trial version - or £60 if you want a commercial license. [/quote] I use a Zoom as well. Connecting with the pc using usb and recording using audacity. The only prob l have is I find I don't have any sound output when recording. So I'm playing acoustically. [/quote] Preferences > Audio I/O tab > check 'Software Playthrough - Play new track while recording it' There is also a 'Hardware Playthrough' option which I guess should work, but I've never tried it. MisterFingers Posted September 3, 2013 Share Posted September 3, 2013 I'd also recommend Reaper as the software to go for jonanlou - A bit of a learning curve with all DAW software, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy to track takes one at at time (if your gizmo only has one input, that is), and then export whatever recorded track(s) you want in order to send to someone else. [/quote] I found audacity a real PITA when trying to get it to talk to the interface and back , In reaper it seems to work sweet , but everything also appears to be simpler with a dedicated interface somehow , I guess its the fact it is purely made to do 1 job IYSWIM . I've managed to sort of get things going with the cd that came with the usb box and then save it to audacity (well, its free) But will upgrade as I need the quality to be spot on as my bass/idea's are being used on a forthcoming single. Can anyone say if they get a slight delay from playing to what comes through the headphones/speakers? Doesn't seem too bad on the recording but its rather off-putting and obviously will be useless if trying to sync up to an exsiting track Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
lurksalot Posted September 4, 2013 Share Posted September 4, 2013 it is called latency, and yes it happens though to varying degrees , I noticed it a lot with my older kit but I am using a fast computer and a focusright interface with reaper and it is barely noticable , but I thinjk the softawrae has a built in adjustment of some sort .
