1. Howdy. Had these sitting on a shelf for ages. There are at least 2 and a half sets (possibly 3) of these here - some opened, others not. Any that have been strung have only been used for a couple of hours and then taken off. I remember a bit of confusion around one of the sets, because it looked like the wrong strings had been packed in the factory and I bought another set. I'm too lazy to sort through them so it's a job lot - hence the price. Tried to organise them at one point, but got hopelessly confused and decided to watch paint drying instead as some light relief. Sold as seen sorta thing. Will go to towards buying some 6 string stuff as I have turned back to the dark side...(I know, I know). Cheers. SOLD
2. Some not so good experiences with UPS (via Parcel2Go) this week: The bass was bubble wrapped and put in a decent (new) ABS case, then the whole case was bubble wrapped and then boxed in cardboard with plenty of packing tape. The carriage cost about £60, which included £700 cover. Long story short - a corner of the ABS case has been fractured, and the case lid has been warped slightly. So not only has the box been dropped (or thrown) on it's end, but there's also been other heavy packages been piled on top of it at some point. Fortunately the bass itself was undamaged, but I've opened a claim. Not chuffed.
3. Great guy to deal with - trustworthy member.
4.
Ah, mate, believe me, I've got tonnes of love for it! I'm in the same boat with my Sandberg Panther fretless 5-er; lots of kudos but no hard cash Have a free bump, buddy!
Thanks mate - tough time of year for cash I suppose. GLWYS on the Sandberg.
5. Another bump - Can't understand why there's no Jabba love around - this bass is virtually brand new and knocks MIA Jazz's for six.
6. Bump and another price drop - £700
7. Price drop and bump: £750. Blimey, what a good time to be buying a bass - not selling one
8. I'll include this brand new Thomann ABS case in the price as well as the Mayones padded gig bag. (Sorry for the crap pic).
9. Price drop to £820 and some more images:
10. £870 A beaut of a bass In perfect condition - no dings, marks or any other cosmetic or playability issues. I’ve only played this at home and in a recording studio. I hate to sell it, but needs must Here’s the tech: Mayones Jabba 4 Active/Passive Jazz Bass (2011 I think) Alder body, maple neck and fretboard. I have a spare Thomann or Gator ABS case that would add an extra £35 to the cost if the buyer arranges their own courier/insurance. Collection is preferred, as you’d get a chance to play it of course. i’m not interested in any trades at the moment I’m afraid. Based in Glasgow. I’ll take some more photos in the daytime - the body finish really shows up with more light. 11. David It was me that sold you the bass - and indeed it is the same one on the advert I put up here in September. The neck shim you're referring to was put in by a good Luthier -in fact the bass went to him twice because I was unhappy with the still high action. When he looked at it first time he saw that there had been shims put in at the Factory (not uncommon). The bridge action was set at it's lowest (but still too high for my tastes) so to lower it a further2 separate shims were put in. It doesn't look pretty, but doesn't affect the tone at all. I contacted Overwater about the (to me) unusually high action. and they were a bit vague about the reason, but did offer to take it back for an adjustment, but I decided to go local. It is a genuine Overwater Aspiration Elite - with no custom tinkering other than the shim -which could easily be taken out. Actually, I think it had the jack socket replaced as well. I bought it from an another member here actually but I doubt he did anything to alter it. By the way, If you look in the case pocket you got with the bass the original Overwater tag should be there. Hope this helps to clear things up.
12. Price Drop to £300. Blimey, this is a busy place these days. SOLD (eventually!)
13. £340 Up for sale is this beauty - I bought it from another BC’er about a year and a half ago, and I just don’t play it enough to justify keeping it. (And my intonation hasn’t improved as quickly as I’d hoped). It’s in excellent condition, no dings or scratchy pots, but has a couple of issues which I’ll point out below. I’d prefer local pick up in Glasgow, but have a virtually brand new Gator hard case that I’d ship it in for an extra £35 (plus the shipping/insurance of course). The bass has never been gigged, and has been used in a pet and smoke free home. £325 to you fine sir/lady. Payment via Paypal and we split the fees -or cash on collect. If you want it couriered, then it’s easiest if the buyer makes arrangements. Here’s the specs: Overwater by Tanglewood ELITE 4 string Fretless Bass (These were (are?) made in small numbers and retailed new around the £740 mark). This one has an even rarer exotic top than standard, but I can’t remember what Overwater called it. Neck: 3 Piece Maple Bolt On Fretboard: Rosewood Body: White Ash with Maple Top Top: Figured Machines: Gotoh Style Mini Bridge: Overwater Pick-Ups: OW Soapbars Electronics: OW Active 3 Band EQ Controls:Vol ( Pull Bright) Pan | 3 Band EQ 24 Frets, 19mm String Spacing, 40mm Nut (4 string) & fitted with original OW Light Gauge Nickel Strings There is a flaw in the fretboard which I took as being a factory filled knot -it does not affect playing in the slightest. The other issue is the pretty big wooden shim under the heel. This was put in by a local luthier, because I wanted the action lower, and although it looks ugly, did not affect the tone of the bass at all. I could have sent it back to Chris at Overwater, but decided against it because of the time and hassle. The bass plays and projects beautifully, with all the mwah you’d want.
14.
No worries, Not a co-incidence, my asking you about it brought it back to the top of the forum, where they spotted it ;-)
It's still available - just drop me a PM if you're interested.
15.
Do you still have this?
I do actually, but someone else PM'ed today about it, by a strange coincidence..
16. Some people 'relic' paintings to give them a vintage vibe - not so long ago people doing the same to guitars would also have been called out as con-artists, yet now it seems to be accepted by many as a finish. I really dont' understand, other than it's a marketing ploy to sell to gullible idiots who want to fool their mates into thinking their guitar is old, or that they gig so much the wear and tear is direct proportion to how popular their band is. And please don't give us that 'smooth neck worn nitro finish plays like greased lightening' bollocks either. A fake is a fake, n'est ce-pas? Just my tetchy tuppence-worth of course.
17. Last bump and price drop - £35 (postage still extra).
18. I'm sure this seller is well known to people on here, but all I can say is "F**k!" http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2a316b379c
