Jack Bruce with Cozy Powell - long shot

In the 1980s, I recorded (on cassette) a session off Tommy Vance's Friday Rock Show that featured Cozy Powell's Over The Top band with Jack Bruce on bass. An Aria SB1000, IIRC, and the sound was influential to me at the time and remains my 'source' bass sound. It was a favourite for yrars, particularly their version of Tickets To Waterfalls with JB on vocals. So, getting to the point, has anyone got a copy? I lost the cassette years ago so doubt anyone will have it but if there is a 50 something anorak out there that has kept all of his cassettes...... Would love to hear it again

Can't help, I'm afraid, but I can feel your pain because 'Thomas The Vance' was essential listening for me around that time (along with Alexis Korner's blues show that went out after Fluff's 'Pick of the Pops' show on a Sunday evening).

Have you posted anywahere else as well? At least you can get such a request out to thousands, perhaps even millions, of people these days.

Good luck!

Meanwhile . . . . .

There might be hope - the BBC seem to be releasing some sessions from Tom's Friday Rock Show - I picked up a Saxon concert I was at that was recorded for it in 1984 ish - had it on cassette lost it, same thing as you - found it on iTunes "BBC in Concert"

If not maybe try some of the Rainbow or DP forums, you never know....

Great song, by the way, there's all sorts of interesting rarities on there. Thanks for the link Goiing down slow, it's now on my favourites list!

Tickets to Waterfalls was from Jacks solo album if I remember right "Themes from an Imaginery Theme" (think that was the title) I have that on vinyl. Cosy Powell albums also had the fantastic Mr Neil Murray doing some of the bass lines altho Jack's punchy mid sound from his Aria SB just seemed to stand out far better. That was a great period for session albums from quite a few musicians. I'll check my old tapes in the loft to see if I might have anything from that era. Pretty sure I have some live tapes from Tommy Vance but cant remember which ones. Dave

Thanks goingdownslow. That's the fellow (the Alive In The Studio session - it is not the recording I remember but it is clearly a rehearsal by the same band and the arrangement is the same, jsut the detail of the recording (bass sound, vocals place in the mix etc) that is not as good as the version I remember.

But great to listen to it again at last. Many thanks again.
