Keith Jarrett.....

I have several cds of Jarrett's on my ipod and some are absolutely works of genius. But some of it seems to be pointless. A bit like a photographer who prints everything rather than one who selects the best image. I downloaded Jarrett's Sun Bear Concerts, 6 cds of improvisation. In some ways it is great, in others, interminable. I love his Still Live LP (I have it on vinyl, the European Quartet stuff with Jan Garbarek, etc, ), some of his 70s stuff is ok.

What do others think?

The last time i saw Jarrett live was his trio with Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette and had to suffer the seemingly obligatory lecture about anyone with a camera or recording device. I found it so tedious and unnecessary i've never seen him since and never will again. Genius or not i can well do without that.

I know there is, erm... the strange side to him, but you are right, some gems.
Your video post, being a great example
