dudewheresmybass Posted January 2, 2013 Share Posted January 2, 2013 So, I tried one today at stompbox, and left £90 lighter. ( if only losing weight were so easy!) This thing Is awesome! The controls mean you can sculpt the sound in lots of ways. I found a lovely gnarly fuzz sound with tons of low end and seemingly no huge scoop. I already have the originally bbm, the bfd (which tbh is its main competitor for space in my rig) And a couple of other fuzzes. It takes what the bbm does and improves it drastically. [/quote] That's really hard to say. The bells and whistles are so integrated in the sound that it's hard to imagine the dry sound without those instruments. dudewheresmybass Posted January 6, 2013 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I had a chance to ab them earlier today. The fuzz is very similar if not identical. The Dlx though seems to have more mid content than I would expect from a big muff ( although not by a huge amount) It sits in a mix much better than the bbm. The blend control works wonders here, rather than the fixed blend of the bbm. The crossover needs to be set carefully though or I found it tended to sound a little nasal in the mix. I settled on a setting as it turns out quite close to one of the sample settings in the little brochure/ leaflet. IMO its worth it's £89 to me, just to have useful muff sound, although for my main band I think the bfd will be staying on my board. As a standalone fuzz for an 'average' band content wise- definitely worth a good look Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

[/quote] I've used this method of 'gating' my new 'supermuff' and, although it gates the signal, you need to roll the volume up to full - essentially you've voltage starving the transistor which results in a MASSIVE volume drop.
