Hercules Stands and Nitro finished basses

Dies anyone know if the foam on Hercules Bass stands interferes or affects the finish on nitro finished basses?

I'm fortunate enough to own a couple of Fender custom shop basses finished in Nitro and would be devestated if they were damaged by the foam on my Hercules Stands

Any ideas?

I used Hercules grab stands many times with my nos nocaster to no ill affect if that helps?

The foam can certainly mark an oil finish, as one of my Warwicks found out. (Though re-waxing got rid of the marks). From that I would expect it not to be safe for nitro, but I don't know the chemistry of these things.

My solution has been to put some socks over the foam parts. I gather that doesn't completely solve the problem, but it certainly slows down any effect the foam has.

From what I've been told, The Hercules doesn't have the chemicals in the foam that damages a nitro finish.

I had the same dilemma when I got one of the Roadworn nitro finished Fenders. I've been using a Hercules "neck grab" stand for 6 months and not seen any bad side effects.

Never had an issue in 5 years of nitro necks on my 3way stand!

same for myself i have put some foam behind too, incase it gets knocked but they work well.

I own a Rickenbacker 4003, which are notoriously prone to the finish dissolving if the wrong rubber or foam is used.

I wouldn't own anything but a Hercules. They don't react with any finish. The king of guitar/bass stands!!!!

Yes, but you can be pretty sure that Fender would be one of the manufacturers that they [i]did[/i] test!
