Anyone routed out a Stingray 5?

I missed out on an 8lb Stingray 5 a couple of months ago and keep hankering after one.
Has anyone routed out a Stingray? Just wondered how neck heavy one would get?
I routed out my Sadowsky, and had to change the tuners to ultralites.

With a bad shoulder and a wide strap I can only manage about 8lbs.

Why not get someone like Warmoth to build you a chambered body?

Ideally a chambered body, headless. I'm sure Status could knock you something up. Might cost a bit, but it could be the last bass you need.

Never thought about a chambered body, but it won't be a MM Stingray, and I think that's part of the charm...

would it not be better to keep the body you have in one bit and pay someone to copy it but in a lighter wood and chambered? that way your bass loses no resale value.

Or go for something super lightweight, status or something. My warwick for example is just over 7lb

Three words;

Status
Streamline
Five

Might not please your aesthetic sensibilities, but if it's a choice between that and not being able to play at all.....
Try a strap that goes over both shoulders and spreads the weight.

I used a Slider Strap until I had my shoulder replaced a few years back. Also saw a new double strap on he Bass Gear stand at LBGS last week. It wasn't cheap and I can't see it on the site yet, but it was very new & either still in, or only just out of prototype. Seemed to hold the bass in a more normal position than the old Slider Strap I used to use
