A favour from a P Bass owner required. .

Possibly my last bass build is going to use up some Bareknuckle P Bass pickups I have, and I'd like to put them in the "right" place.

So, if one or two of you could measure from the nut to the line between the two pickups (just to see if there's any variation) then I'd be grateful. If not then I'll have to remember to take a ruler next time I go to PMT :)

Yes! Looking good already. Is it 727mm between nut and centre point of pickups by any chance? ;)
I don't usually like non-Fender shapes, but that is cool. How are you going to finish it? Please don't say 'natural'. :D

Do those Gibson-style control knobs fit onto CTS pots?

Man, that is sweet. OK then, it's a deal. :D ;)

Edit: And a good compromise between a colour and a natural finish, btw. Looking at it, it would be a shame to cover up that grain you've got going there.

Edit 2: You know what, I've changed my mind. If you're going trans, it should be red.

727mm seemed a ludicrously random measurement, so I checked that in Imperial.

I reckon Leo specified 28.5".

That would seem plausable wouldn't it ? given the era the Precision comes from an' all that. But it's still 727mm (so far !), as 28.5" is 3mm short of 727mm.

the trans red might look better with the all black hardware and neck - the orange suits chrome, and a maple neck/fingerboard.

You could be right there, but I was thinking about that Geddy Jazz, that Custom Shop flame/trans/maple one that he has... I've got a pic of it somewhere... hang on...

You can't really see the flame top in this, I'll try and find a better one.

Out of interest, why do you know this? Or maybe, how did you work it out?
[/quote]

I don't know it for sure, and I didn't work it out. I Googled '28.5 inches in mm'.
Google Calculator did the rest. Lazy, really. :D
